‘American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing’ Episode 3 Recap & Ending: Is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Dead?

The second episode of “American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing” had the two suspects being cornered, and they were almost caught by the police in Watertown, just outside the city of Boston. One of the suspects, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, ended up dead when he was run over by a car driven by his brother, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, in the hope the man would not reveal anything to the police while remaining in custody. Tamerlan was pronounced dead on arrival. With the one remaining suspect on the run, the police are now on the hunt for him and want to make sure he is caught alive. Will the police, with all their force, be able to get a hold of the man on the run?

“American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing” Episode 3 begins by letting the viewers know about Chechen history and why they are always at loggerheads with Russia. As the journalist speaks, one of the narrators says there is resentment toward Russians among the Chechen Muslims because they were driven out of Russia by Stalin because, as he claimed, they were helping Nazi Germany. An exodus leads to the Chechens fighting for their identity. Tamerlan’s father moved to America as a refugee with his family. Tamerlan was raised as an American, and he grew to like the culture that he assimilated into. But the rejection from the Olympic team was something that he took quite hard, which led him to follow the radical path. His rejection from the Olympics does not justify his act of terrorism. With Dzhokar Tsarnaev on the run and his brother dead, the police are finally organizing a massive lookout for the man, and they begin to look out for every possible lead that would bring them one step closer to Dzhokar. The police first headed to Dzhokar’s college campus because they had received information about him having an apartment. With no sign of him on the college campus, the law enforcement authorities came up with one last solution that would help them capture the lone wolf on the run.

The Boston police and the FBI decide to launch the largest manhunt ever organized in the history of America to capture Dzhokar Tsarnaev. The law enforcement officers would go to any extent to catch the man alive. So, the only solution that comes to them is to make sure all the public transport facilities are closed and to ask citizens to stay indoors and not to open any doors unless they have been asked to by the police. The citizens oblige because they want an end to this nightmare of a week, which led to several deaths of innocent people, including a police officer. As the day-long lockdown begins, people slowly but steadily understand the gravity of the situation. There is no way Dzhokar Tsarnaev will get out scot-free from this lockdown, and the police force  are sure to get their hands on this man. The citizens are tense, too, seeing all the cops around them, a sight that is new to all of them.

Is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Caught Dead Or Alive?

The search for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is on, but there is no news of him getting caught so far. The police also bring in Tamerlan’s wife for questioning, but she is not cooperative in any way possible. The parents of the brothers from Dagestan also gave a press conference, urging that their sons are being wrongly accused by the Boston police, yet the uncle comes forward and requests Dzhokhar to surrender. Dzhokhar, just like his brother, moved to Boston with their father, led a normal life, and had gotten assimilated into the American lifestyle. Dzhokhar, despite being the younger one, was the popular kid in the school as well. But unlike his elder brother, Dzhokhar was keen on getting into wrestling, and he did. Somewhere down the line, when his brother got radicalized, Dzhokhar also followed in his brother’s footsteps to respect his brother and got brainwashed into his belief system. Dzhokhar was too young to understand or comprehend what was happening around him or why his brother was keen on leading him down the same path as him, by the looks of it, did not question his brother and blindly followed his words.

After a day of searching for Dzhokhar around the city, the police give up on the lockdown part because they cannot keep the city at a standstill for more than a day. Businesses would be affected, and work daily for people would get affected. The police are particularly concerned about the lockdown when they receive information from a homeowner who claims there is someone inside their boat and that the boat has blood stains all over it. The local police are sure that Dzhokhar is probably injured and hiding inside the boat. The big question that remains is how the manhunting force did not check the giant boat, which was covered with a tarpaulin. The lockdown resumes, and this is the final hour of catching the bomber, Dzhokhar, and finally arresting him. FBI negotiators are called, and some gunfights ensue, presumably started by the local policemen. As the negotiations become successful, Dzhokhar is finally taken off the boat, and he is arrested. The police confirm that he is the man they have been hunting. The city erupts in joy to see the man responsible for the horrific crimes that were committed over the last week, the scars of which will probably last forever. He is finally behind bars, and he will be questioned for his entire role in the bombing other than executing the plan.

The town is in a celebratory mood, and the biggest task remains to see how the investigation goes along and whether Dzhokhar will cooperate with the authorities to let them know what their bigger plan is. Dzhokhar does not cooperate with officials at all and invokes his right to remain silent. The police gather evidence from the inside of the boat, which had a radical Islamic manifesto, something he and his elder brother Tamerlan followed without batting an eye. Dzhokhar is not keen on cooperating with the police, maybe because he has surrendered to the fact that he is destined to be behind bars for life and will be given the death penalty for the unspeakable crimes that he has committed.

Dzhokhar, being a Muslim, also brings up the topic of islamophobia, which would again peak with the arrest of this man, who is a Chechen Muslim. The FBI was informed by the Russian intelligence service that Dzhokhar’s brother was a terrorist, but somehow it ignored the threat. Tamerlan is also accused of killing his best friend, Brendon, and the media is having a field day branding Muslims as villains. Islamophobia, which was on the decline, is now on the rise once more, and Muslims are having a tough time and must end up proving their patriotism and allegiance towards America.

The investigation team comes up with various theories about the brothers. The FBI is sure that the brothers acted on their own, while the Boston police believe that they had financial support from someone who provided them with materials to make bombs. Tamerlan was the dominant alpha influence on Dzhokhar, and that will remain the ultimate truth until the end of Dzhokhar’s life. The final verdict handed down by the court sentenced Dzhokhar to death, and there was no looking back for the local police, FBI, or the state of Massachusetts from here on. The culprit is finally behind bars, and it will be about that time when Dzhokhar’s death will be announced.
