Yudhra, the action drama, has everything going its way. There is full-blown action, family drama, love, deceit, and revenge. All of these are pushed to the max to set the film apart from many other full-blown action films that glorify the lead’s anger and the decisions he makes based on that emotion. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the movie is the story of an orphan raised by his father’s friends. His temper is a problem, and the film deals with how he is helped to channel his anger.
Was Yudhra a special child?
Yudhra was born to police officer Girish Dixit, who was felicitated for busting a drug racket and killing one of the biggest dealers in the country. This earned Girish a medal, but his celebration was short-lived. He and his pregnant wife were killed in a car accident. Their son miraculously survived the crash and was raised by Girish’s colleagues, Karthik and Rehman. Yudhra had a temper since childhood, which Karthik and Reman were unable to get to grips with. Rehman’s daughter Nikhat became a good friend of his and someone who understood where his anger was coming from.Â
Why was he sent to NCTA?
Yudhra knew his parents had passed away before his birth, and Karthik was only his foster father. Both eventually got estranged as Yudhra began to rebel and get into trouble for it. Karthik had joined politics and become a well-known leader. Yudhra’s anger and penchant for troublemaking forced Karthik and Rehman to admit him to the National Cadet Training Academy since they realized they needed to help Yudhra channel his anger and fondness for taking risks in the right way. The institute was in Pune, and Yudhra could get in touch with Nikhat as well, who always had a positive influence on him.
Yudhra met Nikhat in Pune, and both slowly felt their friendship turn in love as they’d known each other from childhood. Yudhra had hoped to control his anger, but it went out of control when he tried to protect his fellow cadet from a group of goons.  Yudhra beat the goons black and blue, which led to his removal from the academy and his eventual breakup with Nikhat. He felt this would be harmful for her in the near future, as he always got in trouble because of his temper.Â
What line did Yudhra go into after the NCTA?
After being forced to leave the NCTA, Rehman had a job for him, which he believed was the only way to channel his anger and energy. Rehman revealed that Yudhra would be sent to jail to get the attention of Naidu. Naidu was a right-hand man to Firoze, the new mafia drug lord in the city. Rehman revealed Firoze had orchestrated Yudhra’s parents’ deaths, and getting information about his business would be the start of a plan to decimate him and his empire. Yudhra and Rehman’s plan was working out as Naidu was impressed with the new inmate’s fighting skills. Yudhra was able to silence Naidu’s rival, and the man helped him escape from prison and got him to meet Firoze.Â
How did Yudhra get Firoze’s attention?
Firoze and his son Shafiq were handling the million-dollar drug supply of the country. Firoze was interested in hiring Yudhra, but Shafiq was not trusting of the man, as he’d come out of nowhere to help them. Yudhra let them know he knew they were after Shamsher, who was absconding from the country and was a bigger threat since he was not in India anymore. The initial plan was to kidnap Shamsher and keep him in Firoze’s custody till he was killed. Rehman, Yudhra’s mentor, was in on the plan as well. Yudhra went overboard and killed Shamsher to prove his worth to Firoze and gain his trust. Rehman was not aware of this plan, but he was impressed with Yudhra’s presence of mind.Â
Why was Yudhra captured after the Chinese mission?
Yudhra was informed about a plan to get hold of a container that held drugs weighing 5000 kg from China. Yudhra was supposed to safeguard the container till it reached Mumbai, and Shafiq would handle the rest. Yudhra informed Rehman about the same, and both decided to communicate through a chatroom of an online video game. As the ship left the dock, the commandos attacked the ship, and Yudhra pretended to attempt to save the container only to find it empty. Yudhra was injured in the commando attack and remained MIA. Firoze and Shafiq were worried until Yudhra was captured as per the plan set by him and Rehman. Amidst all of this, Renuka Bharadwaj, Rehman’s superior officer, was keen to find out what he was up to. Initially, it would seem she was on Rehman’s side, but since Yudhra had not heard of her name from his mentor, he could not trust her at the moment. Shafiq and Firoze revealed that their Chinese friends had captured Rehman, who confessed to having changed the location and delivery of the container with the drugs and bribed the dock workers to help him move it to another ship.Â
What did Rehman reveal?
The Chinese delivered a brutally beaten-up Rehman, who did not reveal the actual location of the container since it was stored in an encrypted password-protected file. Rehman revealed that Firoze was a police informant who was the reason why Sikander died and Shamsher had to flee. Rehman was killed by Shafiq, but not before he also revealed that Yudhra was his informer. Firoze was angry at his son for killing Rehman, as he had the details of the container they were desperately seeking. While dying, Rehman’s last words were the verses said by the Muslims when someone dies.
Was Nikhat a target?
Since Yudhra was not aware of the container details, either Firoze or Shafiq tried to kill him, but he managed to survive. He also learned Shafiq would go after Nikhat since she was Rehman’s daughter. They believed she was the key to uncovering the password of the file that would direct them to the location of the container with drugs. Nikhat was indeed a target, and Shafiq went out of his way to make sure she was taken hostage. She was in Portugal studying, and both men went looking for her with their own agenda. Shafiq almost got his hands on Nikhat, but not before Yidhra swooped in and saved her. In his pursuit of rescuing the woman he loves, Yudhra killed Shafiq.
Why did they come back to Mumbai?
Yudhra got access to the file Rehman had left, and both he and Nikhat were trying hard to crack the password. Nikhat learned that Yudhar was a witness to her father being mercilessly killed, and he mentioned the verses Rehamn had uttered during his last few breaths. Nikhat claimed that her father had lost faith in God after her mother’s death and for him to say those verses from the Quran meant something. Nikhat and Yudhra were able to crack the password of the file from the verses he uttered and finally were able to open it, to see it contained a video of Rehman.
In the video, Rehman revealed the location of the container was Hyderabad. He also added that Renuka Bharadwaj, his superior officer, was not to be trusted, as she was always keen to find out who his informer was. Rehman misled Renuka in the name of a commando mission to capture the container. Rehman, however, said in the video that his friend and Yudhra’s foster father, Karthik, might know why Rehman died, and would be able to help them. Both contacted Kathik in no time, and to help them escape their deaths at the hands of Firoze’s men, they were chartered back to Mumbai.
Did Yudhra find out who betrayed his parents?
Yudhra was under the impression that Karthik, despite the complicated relationship both shared with each other, would help him get out of the mess and save him and Nikhat. Yudhra, for the first time, was afraid to die since he wanted to live for Nikhat. Firoze would also go all guns blazing after Yudhra for killing his son. This was the reason why he needed protection from his foster father, Karthik, who promised to take care of the matter and save both from getting killed. On reaching Mumbai, Karthik revealed his real face when he made a deal with Firoze. Firoze himself was a police informer in his younger days, working for Sikander and Shamsher, and it was revealed it was Karthik and Girish who were approached to get rid of the two drug dons in Mumbai.Â
Karthik was aware that Firoze was captured by the police because of Yudhra; he would not hesitate to take Karthik’s name as a corrupt cop. This was the reason Karthik allowed Firoze to capture his foster son in retaliation for Yudhra killing Shafiq. Karthik never had any love for Yudhra, and his father’s act was just his way to keep him in the dark about the fact that his foster father figure was indeed a corrupt man. It was easy to assume at this juncture that Karthik was most likely behind Yudhra’s father’s death as well. Only Yudhra, Nikhat, and the deceased Rehman were not aware of Kathik’s real face.
Yudhra entered Firoze’s factory with the intention of killing him. He was aware now that everyone’s truth was out in the open; he might as well kill the person who was responsible for his father’s death. Yudhra was captured in no time since he was overwhelmed by Firoze’s men. Firoze, on capturing Yudhra, revealed that it was Karthik who was the mastermind behind Girish and his wife’s deaths. Girish was crucial in taking down the drug mafia in Mumbai, and he wouldn’t stop at that. Since Karthik and Firoze had struck a deal for working together after two powerful drug mafia lords were killed, it made sense for them to get rid of the honest Girish. Karthik’s role in Girish’s death remained only with Firoze, who followed the suit of his predecessor and became the head of the strongest drug mafia in the city.
Yudhra was shocked to find out his foster father had basically spun a web of lies to protect himself and eventually joined politics so that no power could implicate him. He had to take his final revenge on the person who lied to him his entire life. Yudhra escaped from Firoze’s den using the skills he learned as a cadet. This was the reason Rehman had wanted him to put hours into learning combat skills. Yudhra killed Firoze, and a part of the revenge plan was over. Renuka Bharadwaj was sent to kill Nikhat by Karthik as he feared she had heard him speaking to Firoze about his deal to surrender Yudhra to the drug mafia. A cat and mouse chase began in Karthik’s house as Nikhat was sure the woman was sent to kill her after noticing a gun in Renuka’s hand. Since Nikhat herself was the daughter of a cop, she knew how to remain vigilant to save herself. She filled the washroom with water. Renuka entered the water filled washroom only to witness Nikhat dropping a switched-on hair dryer to electrocute her. Her plan worked as Renuka died in a few seconds not before firing bullets while being electrocuted, which hit Nikhat.Â
As Yudhra came back looking for her, Nikhat was almost dead, but she was shifted to a hospital. Nikhat was fighting for her life, and for the first time, for her sake, Yudhra controlled his rage. He confronted his foster father, Karthik, asking him about why he’d had to lie all this while. A flustered Karthik knew his end was approaching since he was aware an angry Yudhra would only stop at killing someone. Yudhra did not think twice before killing his foster father by choking him. He had to kill him to end his revenge cycle. Karthik was the reason behind his parents’ and Rehman’s deaths. He was also the reason Nikhat was fighting for her life in the hospital. Yudhra won’t be able to fathom the death of the woman he loved. He felt Karthik had to pay for his crime, which was that he killed his foster father. Since this was a no-nonsense action drama, there were no consequences to Yudhra’s action.Â
Yudhra movie ended with Karthik’s death, with no clarity on if Nikhat survived the bullet injury. The makers, just like in any other action film, ended it abruptly with zero conclusion on what would happen to the lead. The Yudhra and Nikhat arc was left unfinished, which was bizarre.
