Your Fault or Culpa Tuya is the sequel to My Fault or Culpa Mia. This young adult story is about two individuals falling in love. They happen to be related to each other (though not by blood) and hence have many obstacles ahead of them. There are several characters that have accepted their relationship, while there are some who want to break them up for the sake of their families. These people are at the center of the film, and how they shape the lives of the lovers is what Your Fault expands on.
Nick
Gabriel Guevara portrays the role of the troubled rich kid Nick. He is the oldest son of his father, William, who is married to Noah’s mother, Rafaella. Nick was finishing his law studies when he met Noah, who was graduating from high school. Their relationship in My Fault was bitter, but slowly they grew to fall in love even though their relationship is forbidden. Nick has trouble being a sober and good kid since he has been severely affected by his mother abandoning him. Noah walks in at the right time to sweep him off his feet.
Nick is back in Spain from San Francisco to celebrate Noah’s eighteenth birthday, and nothing has changed between the two. However, their lives get complicated since Noah is going to be going to college while Nick will start his work as a lawyer with his father. Hence they meet new people, which could affect his relationship with Noah. Nick meets Sofia, his beautiful colleague, and feels Noah will be jealous of her. However, the cause of concern is not the new people in their lives but the insecurities he allows to creep into his head. Will Nick and Noah’s relationship last another year, or will their parents finally intervene? That is what Your Fault is all about.
Noah
Nicole Wallace is the teenage girl, Noah, in My Fault and Your Fault. Her arc started with hating Nick, the son of her stepfather. Their hatred turned into lust followed by love for each other. Noah is not afraid of Nick, and she is the only person he likes to converse with apart from his friends. Since Noah had uprooted her life to be with her mother’s new husband and his family, her closeness to Nick is justified. In the second film, Noah is still struggling with the death of her father and is agitated with her mother. Noah and Nick are going strong even though their parents try to keep them apart for obvious reasons.
Noah, unlike Nick, wasn’t raised rich, and wants to forge an identity of her own just like her mother always wanted her to. Their lives begin to diverge when Nick starts working as a lawyer while Noah is enjoying her college life. There are some new people in her life who may or may not have connections with Nick. As Noah and Nick have a taste of reality, the big question is if their relationship will survive.
Rafaella And William
Marta Hazas and Iván Sánchez are Rafaella and William, respectively, in My Fault and Your Fault. William is Nick’s father, and Rafaella is Noah’s mother, and they have been married since the start of the first film. The parents learned of their children being in a relationship at the end of the first film. The second film, Your Fault, began with the couple putting their plan to separate their children in motion. Nick is sent to San Francisco while Noah goes to college, with her parents hoping she will meet other boys of her age and interests.
William also introduced Nick to Sofia on his return and hoped they would hit it off. Their plans fail as Nick and Noah are in no mood to break up. Noah is still rebelling against her mother for not letting her make her own life choices. Rafaella reminds Noah to make the right choices but to be emotionally and financially dependent first, since she will have a lot to lose in case they ever break up. William also had a reputation to keep up, as he would be ruined if the news of Noah and Nick dating was covered by any tabloid news. The second film will also talk about the couple’s past, which is not discussed in My Fault. The parents have made some mistakes, and the children finally come to know of them.
Jenna
Eva Ruiz is Jenna, who is Nick’s best friend in the first film. By the end of My Fault, she is good friends with Noah as well. Jenna is a rich kid like Nick and is dating Lion, a young mechanic who owns a garage. Jenna and Lion are going through a rough patch as she feels her boyfriend is insecure about her wealth. They cut down on their hanging out, and he does not take her gestures seriously. Jenna is heartbroken when Lion does not show up at her graduation. Jenna realizes she cannot be with someone who does not accept her for who she is, and deems Lion to be someone who has an inferiority complex.
Lion
Víctor Varona is Lion, Jenna’s boyfriend and Nick’s best friend. Lion is the owner of a garage through the first and the second film. In Your Fault, though, Lion is struggling to keep the garage running, and his brother in prison is not willing to sell it. Lion and Nick take part in illegal street races, and he hopes to win it big. Lion is also struggling to keep his relationship intact with Jenna. He feels unimportant since he is not as rich as her, and it begins to show through in his interactions with her. Lion is struggling financially, and he is unwilling to take help from Nick and Jenna, stating it is his concern. Lion is aware his relationship is heading towards breakup ville, and there is no attempt from his side to make it work for Jenna’s sake.
Briar
Álex Béjar is Briar, Noah’s new roommate in the dorm as the two join the college. Briar reveals that she tried to commit suicide in the past when her ex-boyfriend broke her heart. She refuses to share the details of her past and becomes fast friends with Noah. On learning she is Nick’s girlfriend, she has a change of heart. She and Nick have a past, implied by their awkward interactions. Briar, who starts as a good friend to Noah, pushes her to consider dating Michael, a new counselor that joins their college.
Sofia
Gabriela Andrada is Sofia, a lawyer who has joined Nick’s father’s firm. She also happens to be the daughter of a minister, but she is keen on making a living on her own. William, Nick’s father, raves about her work, and Sofia so far is having a good time working with Nick. Unbeknownst to either of them, Sofia is recruited to get her closer to Nick. Both eventually become good friends since they bond over their privileged childhood and their urge to prove themselves outside of their father’s money and influence. Sofia is a good person who is aware of Nick’s relationship with Noah and encourages him to follow his heart.
Anabel
Goya Toledo portrays Anabel, Nick’s mother, who he claims left him after the divorce. Anabel, in Your Fault, tries to get in touch with Nick, but he shuts her down many times and refuses to hear her out. Anabel claims Nick has been fed lies by his father and grandfather, who used their money to win custody over him during the divorce. Anabel has many tales to reveal, and she decides to get Noah’s help. She assumes Noah will want what is best for Nick and is right about it too. Anabel, however, has her own agenda, which is revealed only in the end of the film.
