Season one of the show had an explosive ending. While Vikrant was going out of his way to get Purva out of his life, he was also making sure nothing about his role in the planning of the murder would be traced back to him. Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein could be loosely translated to ‘these black eyes,’ invoking a sense of danger and intoxication at the same time. The title of the show is taken from a song in the 1993 cult famous Hindi film Baazigar starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein is a romantic crime drama that has everything going its way in the first season. There are themes like politics, intrigue, toxic love, and crimes being explored in the show, along with many new characters introduced by the end of season one. Season two of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein will be the continuation of where the first installment left off.
Spoilers Ahead
Did Purva survive the bombing?
Season two began with a mother with two children in her car driving away as fast as she could from the British police. The car chase gets intense when Purva and Guru, the children, get worried about the woman’s intentions. It is soon revealed that the woman driving is Purva’s mother, and she keeps herself from getting arrested by driving the car off the cliff. Only moments before her suicide, she removed Purva and Guru from the car so that they could live. The show moves back to the current timeline. Purva, as stated by her father, Akheeraj Awasthi, had not died in the bomb blast that took place during her zumba dance recital. Purva was kidnapped as she was a politician’s daughter. Akheeraj had no clue who had carried out the kidnapping.
Why was Vikrant petrified?
Vikrant was petrified because nothing had worked out as per his plan. He’d ordered the hitman Jalaan to kill Purva, but he ended up kidnapping her on learning she was the daughter of Akheeraj Awasthi. He increased his ransom money to 100 crore INR to make sure Vikrant’s secret was not out. Vikrant was going out of his way to clear his tracks and hoped his father-in-law would not get a whiff of his involvement in the killing of Purva. Vikrant’s life right now was on the edge as he was handling way too many things at a time. Shikha also rang him up asking him to visit her home.
Was Dharmesh dead or alive?
On reaching Shikha’s home, Vikrant learned that Dharmesh was killed by Shikha’s mother accidentally. To their shock, Dharmesh was only unconscious and not dead. Since Dharmesh saw Vikrant with Shikha, he had no choice but to kill the henchman. Shikha at this point was married to Akhil, a police officer. She made sure Akhil was kept out of loop and away from the things her family was involved in.
Akheeraj Awasthi was worried about Dharmesh as he wasn’t picking up the phone and had to resort to asking Vikrant to take care of the money required to pay the kidnapper. Shikha and her family had to find a way out of this mess, and Vikrant helped them by chopping up Dharmesh’s body and disposing of it in the river far away from their hometown.
Was Purva injured?
Purva attempted to rescue herself from the hostage situation she was in when she got hit by a vehicle on the road. Jalaan wanted to keep Purva alive because his daughter was in the custody of Dilawar, who was using him to extract money from Akheeraj. Jalaan went out of his way to make sure Purva was given treatment and does not escape from the hospital. She was then back in Jalaan’s custody in no time, who was travelling around the mountains, keeping Purva from being rescued by her father.
Who was Guru?
Guru was the young boy in the prologue of season two. He is Purva’s childhood friend who had confessed his love for her, though she’d rejected it. Purva had always been in love with Vikrant, and she wanted to be honest with him. Guru worked as a contract killer in the UK, and he had a team that had access to the latest technologies to help him track any target. He learnt of Purva getting kidnapped and showed up in Uttarakhand in no time to help her father rescue Purva from this situation.
Guru and his team were able to locate Vikrant with the help of his best friend, Golden. Akheeraj and Guru, with Vikrant by their side, began their work to find out where Purva was held as they kept getting ransom calls from Jalaan. Guru was quick to get to the incident in Ladakh that almost killed Purva. Using his team, he was able to spot the sharpshooter hired to kill her. While everyone assumed the incident to be a small particle hitting the windshield of the car Purva and Vikrant were in, the matter suddenly turned into an attempted murder case.
Did Shikha ask her parents to leave?
Shikha and her parents were soon in trouble when the neighbors began to question the meat they had used for the wedding festivities and the pieces of it got stuck in the drainage system outside their homes. Shikha shared her concerns with Vikrant, who suggested asking her parents to leave the town to avoid any suspicion that might befall them. Shikha asked her parents to do so, and they obliged before the police or Akheeraj’s men would catch up with them.
How did Guru and Akheeraj rescue Purva?
During one of the ransom calls, Akheeraj revealed that Purva was a heart patient and she was taking prescribed medicines as a part of the treatment. Vikrant knew this was a lie meant to get them the location of the kidnapper using the codeword, which was the name of the medicine she shared. Jalaan, whose daughter was in Dilawar’s custody, was going out of his way to make sure things worked as per the plan. There were too many people involved in this kidnapping, and it was bound to get out of hand in no time.
Vikrant was also constantly in touch with Jalaan and wanted to make sure Purva stayed in his custody, pushing the hitman to kill her. He wanted her dead since he was done with the Purva and her father’s display of power and influence. He was angry at her for forcing him to marry her, and getting rid of her was his only way out. Guru’s first attempt to rescue Purva was thwarted by Vikrant, who gave away their plan to Jalaan, and he eventually increased the prize amount.
Jalaan was also agitated as he wanted Purva dead, for she had seen his face, but Dilawar would not let him kill her. Dilawar had his ulterior motive, which would be revealed in the end. Purva was rescued by her father and Guru after they cornered Jalaan and his team from all sides. Purva also rescued herself by manhandling the woman who was assigned to take care of her. Just before Akheeraj went ahead to save Purva, he let Vikrant know about Dilawar being his old nemesis and the person behind the kidnapping. He let Vikrant know that Purva genuinely loved him and it was important for his son in law to know this.
Was Purva after Jalaan?
After Purva was rescued by Guru and her father, Vikrant was not in a good mood since his plan had failed. He was also worried Jalaan would be arrested, and he would reveal Vikrant’s role in planning Purva’s death. The doctors revealed Purva was pregnant, which shocked Vikrant. He revealed the news to Shikha and began to have second thoughts about everything from this point on. Purva was slowly recovering and she had decided to go after Jalaan to find out who was the mastermind behind her kidnapping. She was aware they were hired to kill her, though she’d survived. She also suspected Vikrant, as on the day of the blast she had learned of her husband’s conversation with Kalikant according to the call produced as evidence by a police officer named Pathak.Â
Did Pathak blackmail Vikrant?
Pathak, the police officer, began to blackmail Vikrant since he had a recording of Kalikant speaking to Vikrant. Purva was aware of the fact that Shikha was being harassed, and she began to wonder if her husband was the reason behind it. Pathak approached Vikrant and began to blackmail him. He was not in the mood to get into any more trouble, which was why Vikrant used Guru to locate Pathak.
What was Jalaan’s plan?
Dilawar was threatening Jalaan to eliminate Purva as he still had the man’s daughter in his custody. A distressed Jalaan had no choice but to force Vikrant to help him get rid of Purva. Vikrant was of two minds as he understood the gravity of the matter when hearing Purva getting emotional about the child she was bearing. He took Jalaan’s help to kill Pathak, who was blackmailing Vikrant. Since Jalaan was now aware of Pathak’s death and Vikrant’s involvement in it, he had to agree to kill Purva. Jalaan planned to use another house near Akheeraj’s home as a vantage point and shoot Purva as she and her father were in the process of holding a prayer meeting for Dharmesh. Vikrant would be sitting next to her, and that would be Jalaan’s cue to shoot at her.
How did Vikrant survive?
Vikrant was still in an existential crisis as the moment had come when Purva could actually die, and he would have to live with that guilt. The guilt was creeping in because she was pregnant with his child. Since she was soon going to be a mother, he possibly could not see her as an evil person that had manipulated situations and brainwashed people for her benefit. He was willing to believe she might love him for who he is. However, it was Jalaan that snapped him out of his guilt by stating that that ship had sailed and he would have to face the reality, which was that Purva was going to die by his hand. Vikrant had to painfully convince his father, sister, and Golden to leave town as he wanted to save them from Akheeraj’s wrath if the patriarch learned Vikrant had orchestrated his only daughter’s death.
To spare Purva a painful death, he had to ask her to not attend the prayer, citing she was pregnant and needed some time off. Vikrant did that because he was convinced what he was doing was wrong and he could not possibly live with the guilt of killing his wife and his unborn kid. As Jalaan was waiting for Vikrant’s cue, the latter went rogue. Jalaan shot aimlessly at the event. This naturally caused chaos as this was an attempt on Purva and her father’s life. Vikrant, way before joining his wife and in-laws at the meet, asked Shikha to leave her husband and meet him at an India-Nepal border town. He wanted to leave this life and be with the only woman he loved and that was Shikha. Vikrant escaped in no time with no one noticing his absence in the ensuing chaos.
Did Shikha and Vikrant reunite?
The second season of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein ended with Shikha waiting for Vikrant at the designated lodge in the border town as requested by him. It never made sense why Shikha involved herself in this mess. Her husband Akhil came across as a good person, and she could have given it a try. There was plenty of confusion happening as the end approached. It was also lazy of the makers to assume her police officer husband would not sense something was wrong and go after his wife. It was also selfish of Vikrant to leave his life and yearn for something that was not meant for him. The makers were not good at creating his arc as they were not sure how to give Vikrant’s character any depth.Â
As Shikha was heading to meet Vikrant at a monastery nearby, she was shocked to find Purva waiting for her. The only she could have found out was for her to track Vikrant using the help of Guru, her childhood friend. Purva would be keen to find out why Shikha was at the border town away from her husband now. Shikha begged Purva to let her live as she was not in love with Vikrant anymore. Purva was made to believe that Shikha was getting married. Sadly, the collateral damage to Vikrant and Shikha’s dream was Purva and Akhil. Akhil especially was clueless, and he would be blindsided once he learned what his wife and her ex-lover were up to. Purva also caught Vikrant waiting for Shikha at the monastery, and he would have a lot of answers since his game was up. Vikrant won’t be able to hide anymore his real intentions and what happened up until his move to run away. Purva was as sharp as her father, and she would not go down without learning what his plans were. She was also aware Vikrant and his father stole the money from her father’s godown.
The epilogue of season two of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein revealed Purva’s mother recovering from a terminal ailment. It was easy to deduce she’d survived the fall and was able to live a life out of reach of the law. By her side was Dilawar, who was branded a traitor by Akheeraj Awasthi in the show. Dilawar and Purva’s mother discussed their need for the young woman to know the truth about her father. The makers did not expand on that, and this subplot was left open for the third season. Purva’s mother may have ratted out her husband, and Dilawar was on it, which was the reason they were carrying out covert work so that Akheeraj does not get a whiff of it. There was a possibility that Purva may not be Akheeraj’s daughter as well. Most of the plotlines have been left open-ended by the makers of the show to create anticipation for the next season. Hopefully the next season would tie up the knots, opening up new subplots and further creating a messy web.
