The seventh episode of “Women at War” embroiled Marguerite and Caroline into a fake drug scandal. Marcel’s sister, Yvonne, directed the entire blame on them since she wanted to ruin their ambulance business. Meanwhile, Juliette was the one who helped her achieve it. Moreover, Lucien sacrificed his life and finally rescued Claudine. “Women at War” Episode 8 began with Marguerite and Caroline’s arrest. They wanted this to reach General Duvernet, but the officers refused to share news of this with the General. Back at the church, the operation was successful, and Joseph was saved by Suzanne. Things were going to end up badly this time as officer Louis was on his way back to the church, and this time he would try to arrest Suzanne. Agnes decided to move Claudine to an orphanage in Nancy, and she told her everything about the Diocese.
Finally, Agnes chose to take responsibility, and she realized that loving someone was not a crime. Agnes was going to inform the Diocese about Father Vautrin’s abuse, and this time he would also reveal her secrets. So, she was prepared to leave the church. But things didn’t work out as she had planned; the archbishop told her to hide the secrets as Father Vautrin had a good image among the other parishioners. Punishing him would tarnish the image of their church. He warned Agnes about her illicit relationship with the German soldier since it could land her in legal trouble. Moreover, he removed all the evidence and moved Father Vautrin to another church. Agnes stepped in for a confession with Father Vautrin and confessed her mistakes and threatened him that she would inform all the other nuns if Vautrin would ever lay his hands on them. Meanwhile, Charles tried to speak to his mother, and she told him to leave the house. So, Charles spent the night inside the factory and dismissed all the workers. Eleonore was disappointed in him, and this time she wished that Charles had died instead of her elder son.
Juliette was questioned by the other ambulance drivers. They knew that she worked alongside Marcel and Yvonne to set up Marguerite and Caroline. Juliette belittled them and went back to the brothel. Marcel didn’t know about this scheme, and Juliette told him everything, believing that he would take her back. Instead, Marcel insulted her and kicked her out of the brothel. The following night, officer Louis arrived at the church looking for Suzanne, and at the same time, Agnes woke her up because Joseph had lost consciousness. He needed an urgent transfusion from General Duvernet, and Suzanne was preparing him for the surgery. Suddenly, Louis stepped inside the room and aimed his gun at Suzanne. When General Duvernet arrived, he was shocked by it. Louis revealed that Suzanne was being placed under arrest for identity theft, murder, and the performance of illegal abortions. Suzanne admitted her guilt but requested she be allowed to save Joseph’s life before leaving. Even though she had never performed a transfusion, she had studied the techniques thoroughly and managed to perform them. Meanwhile, Agnes spoke to Louis and told him about Suzanne’s unfathomable drive to save people. At first, he disagreed, but Louis eventually chose to let go of his vengeance. Finally, Joseph regained consciousness. Suzanne decided to leave the church and requested that General Duvernet bid him a final farewell from her side.
The General agreed to this and left for the headquarters. Here, the other officers got more knowledge of the German army’s offensive, which had been submitted by Lucien, and they only had a few hours left. So, General Duvernet commanded them to evacuate civilians from Saint-Paulin. Meanwhile, Suzanne and Louis talked with each other about his wife’s death. His wife never told him that she was pregnant, but Suzanne had revealed that Louis’ wife was terrified to tell him that she never wanted a sixth child. Louis’ wife had suffered from internal bleeding, and Suzanne tried to save her but couldn’t. Louis forgave her, and Suzanne came back. Joseph and Suzanne had decided to keep working at the church since the wounded soldiers needed their help. The story then moved to Juliette, as she finally realized that Marcel never cared for her. She went back to the police station and provided her testimony against Marcel and Yvonne. The military officers were on their way to arrest him. Marcel learned about this and killed Yvonne because he knew that Marguerite was right about her. Yvonne had been ruining his life. Finally, Marguerite and Caroline were free, and Marguerite chose to stay back instead of evacuating. She didn’t want to leave her son behind. This time, Colin was placed with the foot soldiers at the front lines.
Soon, the German soldiers started their offensive. While Caroline and Marguerite left with Madeleine, Eleonore tried to find Charles but couldn’t find him anywhere. Charles was hiding in the woods and decided to fight the Germans. He shot a couple of them until he was killed by the others. Marguerite and Caroline gathered all the workers who worked at the factory and took them to a safe place. At the same time, Caroline and Eleonore left with Madeleine and moved to Touraine. For the last time, Caroline and Marguerite embraced each other before leaving. Marguerite chose to stay back and work with the ambulances to save the soldiers. She arrived at the front lines and found out that Colin was injured and was at the creek.
Amidst all the attacks, Marguerite rushed to save him, and a German soldier shot her. Marguerite and Colin held hands before she lost her life. Back at the church, Joseph and Suzanne teamed up to save lives. The series ended on a tragic note, as things worked out for some. Women like Caroline, Marguerite, Agnes, and Suzanne had to suffer the consequences. The battlefield spoke various stories, and these stories were related to the people who lost their lives for the sake of others. Even though it was a war between two countries, many innocent lives were lost, and some of them had to lose their loved ones. Colin finally understood the love that Marguerite carried for him, and even though she’s dead, a part of her was relieved that she got to see her son again. Meanwhile, Charles chose to hurt himself to stay away from the battlefield, but in the end, he fulfilled his mother’s wishes and chose to die on the battlefront. Charles had made many mistakes, yet he changed his image entirely.
