The new Netflix movie Untamed Royals makes it clear that justice always works in favor of the rich—the ones with money and power. If you’re poor and innocent, good luck getting justice. The sad truth is that you don’t stand a chance without power. In the movie, when expensive items start going missing from Santiago’s house in a wealthy neighborhood, the first person he suspects is his driver, Polo. Without a second thought, Polo is fired, even though the real culprits are likely Santiago’s own son, Xavier, and his best friend, Gerardo. Officer Rodrigo, who suspects the truth, doesn’t bother to stand up for Polo. Instead, the blame falls on the innocent staff, who couldn’t defend themselves. Now, let’s dive into the cast and characters that bring this story to life.
Xavier
Xavier, played by Juan Pablo Fuentes, is the son of Santiago and Victoria, and he’s nothing short of a rich teenage prick. This guy gets a thrill from lying, gambling, and ruining innocent people’s lives. He’s the kind of person who plays cute and innocent by pretending he doesn’t know anything, while he’s actually the mastermind behind it. Xavier, along with his best friend Gerardo, is the one who steals money from his own home. He even goes as far as staging an attack where Gerardo “grazes” him with a gun and pretends to beat him up, so their parents would think he’s the victim. But in reality, Xavier is the real culprit. He’s addicted to lying and loves showing off how clever he is and manipulating everyone around him. Even when the police were already on the trail of their innocent driver, Polo, after he got framed for the theft, Xavier kept up with his lies and gambling. He knew the truth but didn’t care at all. It shows just how selfish and unbothered he is. Instead of coming clean, he dragged his sister, Mariana, into his schemes, and even roped in his girlfriend, Reneta. He manipulated Reneta by convincing her that they were stealing money to secure their future together, not for any other reason. Xavier didn’t stop there. He shamelessly used Reneta as a scapegoat by faking her kidnapping to extort money from her mother. And when that wasn’t enough, he took it a step further by kidnapping Reneta’s brother, Vincent, with the help of Mariana and Gerardo and even with Reneta. Tragically, they ended up killing Vincent by overdosing him on drugs. But even after all this, Xavier showed no remorse. He didn’t care that Polo and Paty who had nothing to do with the entire ordeal had to pay the price for his crimes. He was just happy he wasn’t blamed, and life went on for him like nothing happened. His character is a disturbing mix of manipulation, greed, and complete lack of empathy, which makes him a true villain in this story.
Gerardo
Gerardo Larios, played by Fernando Cattori, was right by Xavier’s side in all the schemes. He was a thief, a gambler, and a master manipulator, just as twisted as Xavier. Gerardo had his own reasons for getting involved in these crimes—he wanted to win big against other gamblers, and more than anything, he wanted to win the heart of a woman named Pilar. Pilar had expensive tastes, and Gerardo believed that with enough money, he could make her his wife, not just someone to sleep with. He thought money would be the key to keeping her, but his intentions were far from genuine. Gerardo wasn’t just scheming with Xavier; he was also playing with Xavier’s sister, Mariana’s feelings. He made her believe he liked her too, all while chasing after Pilar. Basically, Gerardo was just a player who strung everyone along for his own gain. When Rodrigo, the detective, figured out what was really going on but still decided to pin the blame on Polo, it was Gerardo who handed over the money to keep the cops quiet. He paid them off to frame the innocent servants and protect himself and Xavier from getting caught. Gerardo showed a complete lack of empathy and respect for anyone who wasn’t useful to him. He was just as bad as Xavier, maybe even more terrifying if you think about it. His innocent-looking face hid all the evil inside which made people believe he was just a rich teenage boy who couldn’t possibly commit such horrible crimes.
Mariana
Mariana, played by Ximena Lamadrid, was Xavier’s sister, and at first, she seemed like she might be better than her brother and his friend. In the first half of the movie, it looked like she was going to do the right thing when she tried to catch them red-handed after figuring out their schemes. But guess what? She turned out to be just as bad, if not worse. Mariana was the one who actually stole the expensive watch from her father’s cabinet. And when Polo, the driver, was fired and the police started going after him, she didn’t say a word. She was perfectly happy to let the blame fall on someone else, as long as she wasn’t caught. Mariana was just that selfish. In the end, she even played with Reneta’s emotions by pulling her into their twisted team. Together, they planned and executed the kidnapping of Reneta’s brother, Vincent, all for money. All the while, Mariana pretended to be Reneta’s friend, called her “family,” and said she was there for her. But it was all a lie. It turned out that Mariana was just like the rest of her family. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree after all.
Reneta
If there was one person you might feel bad for, it would be Reneta, played by Renata Manterola. Reneta loved horseback riding and was obsessed with gaining followers on her Instagram page, “Woman Warrior,” where she talked all about women’s empowerment and helping the poor. She loved to show off how rich she was and how she could help others. But things took a dark turn for her. When Reneta was “kidnapped,” her mother gave in to the demands and handed over the ransom money to the kidnappers—who were actually Gerardo and Xavier. Reneta was devastated when she found out that her own stepfather blamed her for the mess and made her feel like a burden. She’d wanted to be rich, to help the poor, and to gain even more followers on her page, but not at this cost. Reneta was shattered when Xavier confessed the truth about the fake kidnapping. But, unfortunately, she got tricked again. Xavier, Gerardo, and even Mariana manipulated her into believing that stealing more money from their awful, rich families would allow her to finally move away and live the life she wanted. This terrible mistake led to the death of her brother, Vincent, as she fell deeper into their traps. Reneta’s biggest mistake was trusting the wrong people and making the wrong judgment.
Rodrigo and Martinez
Rodrigo played by Alfonso Herrera and Martinez Fernando Cuautle were the police officers assigned to investigate the robbery at Santiago’s house. From the start, they knew who the real culprits were—Gerardo and Santiago’s own son, Xavier. But when they realized that Santiago wasn’t keen on blaming his “innocent” rich kids, they quickly understood their assignment. Instead of going after the real criminals, Rodrigo and Martinez decided to pin the blame on Polo, the driver. At his home, they placed a firearm to falsely implicate him as the person responsible for stealing from the family. And after Vincent’s death, they even suggested that Paty, Vincent’s girlfriend, might be responsible for his death—all while knowing the truth. They chose to overlook justice and instead focused on what was more important to them: money. This just showed how corrupt some police officers could be. Instead of serving justice, they sold it out by letting the real criminals walk free and making the innocent pay the price.
Mari, Paty, and Polo
Mari, Paty, and Polo all worked in that rich household, and deep down, they knew they were innocent. They also knew that the rich were just pinning the blame on them to save themselves. But what could they do? They understood that no one would believe them, especially not the police. It felt pointless to even try. So, when Polo and Paty got accused of the robbery and Vincent’s death, and when Polo was killed by the police, Mari knew the truth but stayed silent. She kept on working for the same rich family, just like before. She didn’t dare question them, because she already knew the harsh reality—they were never going to get justice. The system was against them, and after Paty was arrested and Polo was killed, all she could do was survive.
