The Secret of the Shiledars has to be a good attempt to put forward an Indiana Jones/Da Vinci Code-style treasure hunt drama that involves figures from Indian history. The story revolves around a young man who learns of a secret society his father was a part of. He is suddenly made a part of it and has to locate a treasure that was seemingly lost according to many historians. The show involves many people seeking to financially benefit from finding this treasure, while others only want to find it for the sake of finding it. These characters set in motion the plot of The Secret of the Shiledars.

Dr. Ravi Naik

Rajeev Khandelwal, the renowned television actor, is back in the OTT space again in The Secret of the Shiledars. He is Dr. Ravi Naik, the protagonist, who is a YouTuber and a history enthusiast. He was shocked to learn his father was a part of a secret elite group known as ‘the Shiledars’ that were given the responsibility of protecting the treasure that belonged to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Something along the lines of the ‘Knight Templars’ in the Da Vinci Code, Ravi is shocked to learn his parents’ death was a planned murder. Raised on stories and puzzles, Ravi initially lived with his grandfather but was moved to another home to protect his identity.

As Ravi is accused of murdering his father’s friend, Judge Dixit, he has to identify the real culprit and their motives. He believes Judge Dixit chose him to be the next ‘Shiledar’ for a reason and has to find the treasure before the culprit does. He is aided by his brother, Adi, Judge Dixit’s assistant, Priyal, and a famous historian, Pratap Chandra Rao, who wants to find the treasure that seemingly has been lost over a period of time.

Aditya

Gaurav Amlani is Aditya, Dr. Ravi’s younger brother who is on the journey with him right from the start. There is not one scene that does not have Ravi and Adi together. Adi, without worrying about his life, joins the adventure and is keen to find out more about his brother, who he learns is adopted and has a connection to the glorious Maratha Empire of Western India. Adi is a great help from the start and keeps giving inputs to the group about every place they visit right from the start of the adventure.

Priyal Deshpande

Sai Tamhankar, one of the prolific actresses from the Marathi film industry, is Priyal Deshpande in The Secret of the Shiledars. She is a lawyer who is Judge Dixit’s assistant and takes care of day-to-day activities apart from their work as litigators. She is as shocked as Dr. Ravi on finding out her boss is now dead. Dr. Ravi shares what he remembers of his last interaction with her boss, and this makes her want to join the adventure and find out Judge Dixit and “the Shiledars” secret that has been kept hidden for centuries. Priyal is revealed to be a spy working for the villain and informs the antagonist of Ravi and Adi’s movement and the clues they are trying to locate that will lead them to the treasure. A tragedy that hits them very early in the adventure changes her perspective. Will Ravi and Adi accept her after learning of the betrayal?

Pratap Chandra Rao

An actor par extraordinaire, Ashish Vidyavarthi, in The Secret of the Shiledars, is Pratap Chandra Rao. He is a historian who has carried out extensive study and research on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the treasures collected under him during the reign of the Marathas. He is initially seen rejecting an award since he has not been able to locate the famed throne of the Maharaja which was made of gold. Ravi’s visit intrigued the historian in him, and he chose to help the young man and his friends. They need his vast knowledge of the subject to decipher clues that will bring them closer to the treasure.

Prashik

Nandu Madhav, a renowned Maratha cinema and theater actor, is Prashik, Judge Dixit’s friend. Prashik is seen meeting Judge Dixit at a temple in Pune, and the old man shares a large key made of gold with him to safeguard until he learns the identity of the next ‘Shiledar.’ Prashik is a staunch ‘Shiledar’ loyalist who goes out of his way to help Ravi, Adi, and Priyal when they come looking for him through the clues left by Judge Dixit. Prashik himself has been an archaeologist who lost interest in fieldwork after his wife was killed and hence started helping Judge Dixit in protecting a treasure that is highly valuable.

Judge Krishnakant Dixit

Veteran Marathi cinema actor Dilip Prabhavalkar is Judge Krishnakant Dixit, one of ‘the Shiledars.’ The Shiledars, ever since the death of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, were sworn to protect the Maratha treasures, including his famed throne made of gold. Over centuries, there have been many renowned people who were included in the elite group, and Judge Dixit is also one of them. Ravi’s father and Judge Dixit were sworn to protect the treasures; the latter is keen on sharing all the knowledge he has on him about the said valuables. He feels it is his duty to share all the information that will lead Ravi to the treasure and protect it before anyone else gets their hands on it.

Governor Ramachandran

Kannan Arunachalam is Governor Ramachandran of Maharashtra state. He claims to be the heir to the Vijayanagara Empire, the glorious kingdom of the Southern part of India. He staunchly believed the treasure hidden by the Marathas and protected by the ‘Shiledars’ originally belonged to the king of the Karnataka-based kingdom centuries ago. He is tracking Judge Dixit and the people he is meeting to find out the location of the treasure. Ramachandran is powerful enough to hire people to threaten and kill anyone to get information about what he claims to be his birthright.
