The second season of Netflix’s Polish series, The Green Glove Gang, is packed with even more excitement and thrill than its predecessor. In season 2 time, we’re introduced to some new faces alongside our favorite infamous gang members, who have already made a name for themselves. The narrative focuses on how the Green Glove Gang pulls off their heists, their motivations, and the personal stories. You’ll get to see what drives these women, the challenges they face, and how they cleverly accomplish their missions.

The Green Glove Gang

Let’s start with the obvious: the infamous gang and its three rebellious ladies. Magdalena Kuta as Zuzanna, Malgorzata Potocka as Kinga, and Anna Romantowska as Alicja. Each of these women had unique characteristics that made them different from one another, but they were united by one mission: to help the helpless and punish the oppressors who exploited people for their own benefit. Kinga was rebellious, had had numerous relationships, and was unstoppable and childish. Zuza, being a mother and a wife in her past life, naturally took care of her friends. Alicja had special psychic abilities, which helped them foresee potential dangers. In a society where poor and old people often became exploited and looked down upon, these three women became saviors of them. Ten years ago, when they first created the gang for their heists, they had one motto: to save people, to make unanimous decisions, and, above all, to stay friends. Nothing could break them apart.

Even though the gang had the reputation of not leaving a trace behind, in the first season, we saw that during a heist at Brykalski’s house, Kinga’s tattoo was mistakenly shown on CCTV footage. To protect themselves, the other two decided to go to an old-age home named “Second Home” for safety. After moving into Second Home, they changed the lives of the helpless people there too. They took revenge against Marzena, the rebellious owner of the old-age home, who exploited the residents. They pulled off heists to give people a taste of their own medicine, like Mr. Rawski at the Eden Cemetery, and exposed the pawn shop owner who sold the old people’s belongings. Ultimately, they managed to put Marzena in jail for all her misdeeds, as she was connected to them. Throughout the first and second seasons, the gang became the main target for the police, especially Alfred and Detective Gujska. Despite this, the gang’s Robin Hood-like actions made them quite a sensation. They befriended all the old people in the second home and received letters from people asking for their help. But in the second season, their mission has become rather personal; their main purpose is to save Tomek, Zuza’s son, from a gangster named Masarz. They needed to find the Venus in the national gallery and give it to him to clear Tomek’s debts. For Zuza’s son, they did it all, overcoming various obstacles. They knew Igor wanted the sculpture for his own benefit and played him by giving him a fake Venus sculpture. Even though the police captured them, they couldn’t treat them like criminals but rather as do-gooders. So, they got appointed to work with the police and managed to put Marzena, who’d tried to out them, back in jail, where she deserved to be.

Marzena

In the first season, we were introduced to Beata Bandurska as Marzena, the owner of the old-age home called the Second Home, where the gang first took shelter. Although she was skeptical about letting them in, the gang knew exactly how to play her. Marzena was greedy for money and would go to any lengths to exploit people and get their money. She had no ethics whatsoever. But how long could that last? Eventually, she ended up in jail. At first, Detective Gujska thought she was Kinga from the Green Glove Gang because of a tattoo on her wrist. Although they were wrong, Marzena’s past deeds were enough to lock her up for a long time. In season two, we saw her get out of jail by collaborating with the police and, of course, with Igor to find out what the gang had been up to. She wanted to expose them to take her revenge. She even tried to bribe Tomek, Zuza’s son, knowing he desperately needed money. She got information about a secret tunnel from him and planted CCTV cameras to capture the heist. Through this, she was able to give proof incriminating the Green Glove Gang and help the police capture them. But ultimately, her evil plan didn’t succeed, and she ended up in prison again. Marzena’s greed and lack of ethics make her a perfect antagonist, but in the end, justice catches up with her.

Igor

Igor was someone who only thought about his own interests and nothing else. He didn’t care about anyone, not even his closest ones, and had no sense of remorse. Even though he and Kinga had been married before, he tried to betray them by teaming up with Marzena, with whom he had a past relationship. He took advantage of her emotionally, but in the end, he was the reason Marzena got jailed. He gave a false alibi against her, using his criminal mind, as he knew exactly what the police would believe since he was an ex-con. Igor promised Marzena that he would help take down the Green Glove Gang. This season, we saw him trying to team up with the notorious gang leader Masarz. Together, they planned to get the Green Glove Gang to steal the Venus sculpture from the national gallery. Igor just wanted to sell it for a huge sum of money. But ultimately, when the gang fooled him by giving him a fake sculpture, his plans fell apart. We don’t know exactly what happened when he tried to sell the fake one to his client, but chances are he either got captured or met the grim fate of being murdered for trying to deceive some very powerful people.

Alfred and Gujska

Alfred and Gujska played the classic good cop, bad cop routine. Alfred, played by Miroslaw Zbrojewicz, always tried to see things from a more optimistic point of view, while Gujska, played by Karolina Rzepa, was the exact opposite. She hated how Alfred was so trusting of others. Together, they tried hard to catch the gang but failed every time. Their desperation even led them to befriend Marzena in order to get closer to the gang. In this season, we saw that Gujska was pregnant and about to become a mother. She knew how much Alfred loved his own mother, so she pretended to write fake letters to him as his mother, as she hoped it would make him act differently, just as his mother did. Even though they eventually managed to catch the gang, they realized their mistake in thinking of them as criminals. In the end, they decided to appoint the gang for police work instead.

Tomek

Tomek, the son of Zuzanna, was the main reason the gang decided to do one last heist to steal the Venus from the museum. He was in trouble with the gang leader, Masarz, and needed to pay off his debt. To help him, Zuzanna sacrificed her dignity. But you know what? Tomek, being an ex-con, was easily drawn towards money. When he found out that his mother was disappointed in him, it didn’t take him long to expose the gang’s mission. He revealed their plan to steal the Venus from the gallery by showing the secret alleyway tunnel to Marzena because he was swayed by the money she offered him. However, in the end, Tomek realized his mistake and got away from the situation. Ultimately, he apologized for his actions and met his mother, putting an end to his troubles. This showed that, despite his flaws, Tomek had the ability to recognize his wrongdoings and seek forgiveness.

Masarz

Masarz was the gang leader who appointed the Green Glove Gang to steal the Venus from the gallery. He was terrified of dying and believed that the magical healing power of the golden Venus statue would save him. That’s why he teamed up with Igor to get the gang involved. However, as he worked with the gang, Masarz developed a soft spot for them, especially for Alicja. When the police were closing in on the gang, he told them to abort the mission of stealing Venus. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing Alicja to police custody. This just proves that love can change people.
