Netflix’s telenovela series, The Accident with all its frequent twists and turns can be quite funny at times, mostly because even though the loss portrayed in the show is quite serious, characters’ choices and responses are amusing, to say the least. The Mexican drama begins at the birthday party of Emiliano and Daniela’s son, Rodri, where things seem normal until the bounce house suddenly starts floating into the air. It turns out it wasn’t properly fixed to the ground because of which it took away the lives of innocent kids playing on it. But the real question here is: was it just a mere accident, or was it something more sinister—maybe even murder? The Accident constantly keeps you guessing this answer till the very end and I don’t know, maybe that’s what makes it interesting for few and boring for many? Nevertheless, let’s explore the series’ plot in brief and discuss its ending.

What happened to Moncho?
Emiliano and Daniela had two children, Luisa and Rodri. Emiliano was an ideal family man—he was a lawyer, but more importantly, he was a devoted husband and father who loved his kids deeply. It seemed like he was beyond excited about Rodri’s birthday party but there was something more important that kept him engaged on that fateful day. Emiliano and his lawyer friends-cum-business partners, David and Javier, were about to seal the deal on a $40 million amusement park. Emiliano knew this project would change his life and couldn’t wait for it to happen. But on the day of Rodri’s birthday, everything took a tragic turn.
Emiliano was talking to Moncho, the family’s caretaker, who was supposed to secure the bounce house for the kids. However, Emiliano asked Moncho to handle something else and planned to nail down the bounce house himself. Just then, Emiliano got a call from his foreign investors, and in the excitement over their deal, he completely forgot about the bounce house. He didn’t even realize what he’d missed.
Meanwhile, the kids in the bounce house suddenly felt a strong gust of wind that blew off the bounce house from the ground along with the children inside! It was absolute chaos. Emiliano, David, and Javier were still caught up in their business call, completely unaware of the disaster unfolding outside. Then, the unimaginable happened—the children began to fall from the sky. One child, Paula, the daughter of Daniela’s therapist Fabian, flew off with the bounce house (who was later found and survived). Tragically, Rodri, along with two other kids, Mateo (Javier and Brenda’s son) and Gabo (Lupita and Charro’s son), died in the accident. What was supposed to be a day of celebration turned into a nightmare that none of the families could bear. The loss of their children was too much for the parents to handle. Emiliano was consumed by guilt and knew that his own negligence had led to Rodri’s death, but Emiliano couldn’t bring himself to admit the truth. When people started questioning who was responsible for securing the bounce house, they assumed it was Moncho’s job.
Blinded by grief and rage, Charro and Lupita targeted Moncho, beat him severely, and even tried to set his house on fire with his children inside. They believed Moncho’s family deserved to die for what had happened, where Moncho should rot in jail. Thankfully, Daniela, being a cop, intervened just in time and got both Moncho and Charro arrested. While Charro was bailed out, Moncho was left stuck in prison, even though he was innocent. But as I told you, Emiliano was a good egg, and that’s why he was naturally drowning in guilt. So he decided to confess the truth to Moncho. He admitted that he was the one responsible for their children’s deaths, but with his legal career and the million-dollar business deal on the line, he couldn’t risk letting the truth come out. His friend David had convinced him that they couldn’t let this “accident” ruin their future. So Emiliano and David made a deal with Moncho. They promised to take care of his family, sending them to the U.S. and ensuring they’d have everything they needed. When Yola, Moncho’s wife, found out about the deal, she became greedy and demanded even more—she wanted a house, monthly payments, and a visa to the U.S., or she’d reveal Emiliano’s secret. Emiliano, desperate to keep his secret, agreed to her demands. But things spiraled out of control. Lupita was still hurting deeply and wanted revenge. She hired a man named Barroso to kill Moncho, as she believed he was the one responsible for the tragedy. She had no idea about Emiliano’s involvement. In the end, Moncho was killed in his prison cell, and as we all know, the poor man did nothing to deserve it.
What happened to Emiliano?
At first, Emiliano tried to defend Moncho, not even knowing that the poor man had been killed. But when he found out, the guilt hit him hard. And why wouldn’t it? After all, three children were dead because of him, and an innocent man had lost his life without committing any crime. How could Emiliano possibly live with that? Even though his business partners, David and Javier, begged him not to come forward and reveal the truth, Emiliano just couldn’t do it anymore. He finally confessed everything to his wife, Daniela. Of course, Daniela didn’t take it well at all—she was devastated. Daniela threw him out of the house and was ready to divorce him. But Emiliano surrendered himself at the police station and confessed to his crime. Their whole world had fallen apart. Things only got worse when their daughter, Luisa, was harassed by Charro. Charro had discovered that Emiliano was the one responsible for his son’s death, and now he was out for revenge. He lost his mind when he found out Luisa was getting close to his older son, Alex, and wanted to kill her in retaliation. Terrified, Luisa ran away with Alex and fell into a dangerous spiral of drug addiction. When Emiliano learned about what was happening to his daughter, even though he was in jail for the children’s deaths, he managed to get out on bail with Javier’s help. Together with Daniela, they went to rescue Luisa. It was a close call—Luisa had overdosed, but they saved her in time. Charro sent his assistant to kill them off, but Daniela managed to kill him instead. That terrifying experience brought their family back together. Daniela, seeing how much guilt and pain Emiliano was carrying, finally forgave him. She realized that he didn’t cause the accident on purpose—he wasn’t a murderer, just a father devastated by a terrible mistake. But just when things seemed to be turning around, Daniela’s ex-lover, who also happened to be a district attorney working with Charro, came after Emiliano again. This time, Emiliano was sent back to prison, and sentenced to two years without parole. But Emiliano didn’t fight it—he felt like he deserved it. After everything that had happened, he believed that serving time was the only way to pay for his mistakes.
What happened to Charro?
Charro was an angry man—driven by nothing but revenge. He was hot-blooded, and once his mind was set on something, there was no stopping him. Logic? That didn’t mean anything to him. He was abusive to everyone—his wife Lupita, his son, and of course, his supposed business partners Emiliano, David, and Javier. And when he found out that David had slept with Lupita, he completely lost his mind. He was ready to kill David right then and there. But when Charro learned that Emiliano was responsible for his son’s death, he went into a full-blown rage. Now, it wasn’t just David he wanted dead—he wanted all of them gone. Emiliano, David, and Javier—he saw them all as guilty. Charro’s idea of revenge? He decided to join forces with David and Javier by partnering with them in the amusement park project they were building with the Americans—the gringos. But just as he thought his plan was working, Carla, David’s wife and a journalist, uncovered the dirty deal Emiliano had made with Moncho’s wife, Yola. She interviewed Yola, and soon enough, the whole story was printed in the newspapers for everyone to see. Because of that, Charro managed to push Emiliano out of the business deal and became a partner himself. It seemed like everything was falling into place for him—he was finally getting his revenge. But it didn’t last long. Ironically, at the site where the amusement park was supposed to be built, they discovered ancient archaeological remains. The entire deal fell through! It was like a twist of fate, a kind of poetic justice. The very business deal that led to the tragic accident was now destroyed, just like the lives it had ruined. But this only made Charro angrier. So, in the end, at that very site, he shot David. It wasn’t just for sleeping with Lupita—it was for being an accomplice to Emiliano’s crime and the reason his big business deal fell apart. After shooting David, Charro buried his body under the archaeological ruins and made sure no one would ever find him. Everyone assumed David had simply disappeared—escaped without a trace. But Charro didn’t get away with his crimes for long. Lupita, his wife, had had enough of his abuse. She was tired of living in fear, and when Barroso, the man who had killed Moncho, came back demanding more money from her to keep the secret, she snapped. Lupita killed Barroso with her own hands and planted fake evidence—bank transcripts between Charro and Barroso. She made it look like Charro had not only killed Barroso but was also behind Moncho’s death. Even though no one ever discovered that Charro had killed David, it didn’t matter. His crimes didn’t go unpunished. He was eventually sent to jail and paid for the pain he had caused.
At the end of The Accident series, we saw that both Emiliano and Charro ended up in the same prison. It turned out that Charro had pulled some strings and paid a lot of money to make sure they were locked up together. Why? Because Charro still wanted his revenge. He wasn’t going to believe that what happened to his son was just an accident—he only saw Emiliano as the killer, and he wanted to make him pay with his life. Charro had no remorse, no guilt for all the lives he had ruined. Even after everything, his mind was still consumed by anger and revenge. Meanwhile, Emiliano was a broken man. Every day in that prison, he repented for the deaths of those children. Unlike Charro, who was still driven by his wrath, Emiliano held on to the hope that, maybe one day, things could be okay again. The big question now was whether Emiliano would make it out alive. We all know by now how dangerous Charro is, and we don’t know what he would do next. We could only hope that Emiliano would survive Charro’s rage and get the chance to rebuild his life with the people who still loved him.
