The Accident: Charro’s Character, Explained: Is David Dead Or Alive?

In the new Netflix series The Accident, we meet many characters and see how the parents’ lives changed after their children died in the tragic bounce house accident at Rodri’s birthday party. But one character that really stands out is Charro. He’s a vengeful, egoistic mafia figure and a powerful construction worker who has the means to “take care of business” by eliminating anyone who comes in his way, without a hint of remorse. He doesn’t care if it means setting a bad example or even pushing his own wife and child away. By the end of the series, we see what happens to Charro and just how many lives he has destroyed in the process.

Spoilers Ahead

Why did Charro attack Moncho?

As I mentioned earlier, Charro was a vengeful man. So, when he found out that Moncho might have been responsible for his younger son Gabo’s death, he couldn’t bear it. He wanted revenge, no matter the cost. In a rage, Charro drove to Moncho’s house and furiously beat him. Even though Moncho and his wife Yola begged for their lives, Charro didn’t listen. He was so filled with anger and revenge that he even wanted to burn their children alive in the house. For Charro, it was tit for tat—if his child died, then Moncho’s children deserved to die too. He was just that ruthless. After the attack, both Charro and Moncho were arrested. But Charro bailed himself out and, by working with a corrupt police officer, made plans to have Moncho killed in jail. However, Charro wasn’t the only one who wanted Moncho gone. Charro’s wife, Lupita, also wanted revenge and teamed up with a man named Pinto. Pinto disguised himself as a lawyer and finished off Moncho in jail. Even though Charro didn’t know about Lupita’s plan, he was just happy that the man he believed was responsible for his child’s death was finally gone.

What happened between Lupita and Charro?

Charro was abusive to his wife, Lupita, as well. Whenever he got angry, he would torture and beat her without showing any remorse. To him, it seemed like he was just doing what a man was supposed to do and using her as a way to blow off steam. Lupita on the other hand was already heartbroken by her son’s death and constantly suffering from Charro’s abuse. She was truly vulnerable. So, when David showed her some kindness, she melted and ended up sleeping with him. But from that moment on, she knew Charro would eventually find out. And he did. Charro had always tracked Lupita’s phone, which led him straight to the hotel where she and David had met. For revenge, he made Lupita walk home barefoot and humiliated and abused her the entire way. Then, filled with rage, he kidnaped David and was ready to shoot him to death. But at the last moment, he spared David’s life when he learned that David knew the truth—that Emiliano, not Monchos, was the real killer of his son Gabo. However, that didn’t calm Charro’s anger; it just shifted his fury towards Emiliano, at least for the moment.

How did Charro get back at Emiliano?

By now, you probably have an idea about what Charro is like and how when he found out Emiliano was responsible for his son Gabo’s death, he was determined to get revenge. His first move was to go after Luisa, Daniela and Emiliano’s older daughter, as he planned to kill her as payback. But Luisa managed to escape and ended up fleeing with Charro’s older son, Alex. When Charro realized that his own son had betrayed him by helping Luisa, he was furious. His pride and ego were bigger than anything, so he decided to cut all ties with Alex, his own flesh and blood. Charro’s rage didn’t stop there. He knew Daniela might come after him for trying to kill Luisa, so he sent his right-hand man to finish her off. But when Daniela killed his right-hand man instead, it shattered Charro. That man had been like a brother to him, and now Charro was more driven than ever to seek revenge. To get back at Emiliano, Charro became a partner in Emiliano’s $40 million amusement park deal. He got all the necessary contacts and permits, made himself valuable to the team, and then forced Emiliano out of the project as he believed Emiliano didn’t deserve to be part of it after what he’d done. On top of that, with the help of a cutthroat attorney named Ulisys, Charro managed to send Emiliano to prison for two years. In the end, Charro felt he had finally gotten back at the “murderer” of his son.

What Did Charro Do To David?

But you know what? The most ironic thing happened—after all of Charro’s scheming, the big business deal fell apart. Archaeological remains were found at the construction site, and the whole deal fell through. Even though Charro tried so hard to get back at the people he believed wronged him, in the end, he got played himself. Naturally, he was furious and wanted revenge on everyone, but especially David. To Charro, David was the reason he lost all the respect and love of his wife Lupita, and he was also the one who kept secret about Emiliano’s negligence that caused the accident and killed his son Gabo. Consumed by rage, Charro called David to the construction site, shot him to death, and blamed him for ruining his life. He then buried David’s body deep in the pile of remains at the site to hide his crime. Everyone thought David had just disappeared or escaped after all the chaos. Charro kept this dark secret to himself and made sure no one would ever know what truly happened to David.

But don’t think Charro went unpunished. By the end of the series, we see him end up in jail, and guess who set him up? His own wife, Lupita. She planted evidence in his car to frame him for Moncho’s murder, making it seem as if Charro had ordered Pinto to carry out the hit. So the police thought that maybe after the job was done, Charro himself killed Pinto. It felt like poetic justice in the end. But was it really? Because despite all of this, Charro and Emiliano ended up in the same prison. Money and corruption made it possible, and now, who knows what might happen? Charro is still filled with rage, and there’s a real chance he could go after Emiliano, the “murderer” of his son, right there behind bars, don’t you think?
