‘Tanaav’ Season 2 Part 1 Recap: What Happened To Farah And Junaid?

At the start of Season 2, Part 1 of Tanaav we meet yet another person going after Kabir, besides Junaid—Al Danisq whose real identity is Farid Mir, Mir Sir’s elder son. This is the same Mir Sir who was killed in the previous season. Now, he’s back from Syria, where he was trained as a militant to avenge his father’s death, and he uses the forever battle for Kashmir as a cover for his personal vendetta. He’s even recruited youngsters to join his cause, who were driven by both the so-called “Azadi” of Kashmir and to avenge Umar Riyaz, aka Panther. Kabir had already started to deal with Junaid, and realized that to reach Al Danisq, he must first get to Junaid, who is now under heavy surveillance. Kabir is aware that Al Danisq is the mastermind behind several deadly incidents like the attack on his father. He also knows that his comrade, Vikrant Rathore, was killed by him. The team thus struggles to catch this man, and the only way to get closer to him is if they can get to Junaid, because they hope he’ll lead them straight to Al Danisq. So, how do they pull this off? Let’s find out.

What happened to Junaid?

Kabir tried really hard to get to Junaid, and he knew that the best way to do that was to follow Junaid’s wife, Farah. If you remember, Farah and Kabir had a history in the previous season. She was a doctor who worked in the military hospital, which was where Kabir had approached her for information about Junaid as Counter Terrorist Unit officer named Adil Sheikh. Farah trusted him and eventually fell in love with him, only to find out that she had been played. And it wasn’t just Kabir who betrayed her—Junaid had also used her for his mentor Panther’s missions and his so-called duty to his country. Farah was now trapped, forced to marry Junaid to survive and keep herself safe as she really had no other option. Kabir knew all of this and understood how deeply Farah had been hurt and betrayed by both him and Junaid. So, when we saw Farah was captured by soldiers this season, Kabir made sure she understood that he was on her side, and promised her safety if she cooperated. He also assured her that he would help her escape this mess and find peace. Kabir was a strategic thinker and he knew to catch Junaid he had to bug Farah’s house with CCTV cameras to track Junaid’s movements.

In the end, Kabir even gave Farah a secret phone to stay connected with her and handed her a passport that had a tracker hidden inside. Kabir tried to play all his cards, and it looked like Farah had no choice but to trust him as she wanted to get out of this mess and be free. So, she decided to go along with his plan and expose her own husband, Junaid. The problem was that Junaid was already a step ahead. Kabir didn’t realize that Farid, the mastermind, had a secret informant who saw the phone exchange on the hospital terrace. Junaid got tipped off that Kabir and his team were after him. So, when Farah was on her way to meet Junaid, he snatched her into a van and held her at gunpoint. Junaid had been betrayed by Farah before and was furious to see her in this mess again. But what Junaid didn’t know was that the passport Farah held had a tracker in it. Also Kabir and his team were after them, and just when Junaid thought he had the upper hand, Kabir’s men pretended they were soldiers and stopped the van to check their papers. Basically , it was all to buy some time. When they confirmed that both Junaid and Farah were in the van, they quickly informed Kabir. As soon as Kabir’s team arrived to capture Junaid, Junaid threatened to kill Farah. But Kabir came up from behind and held Junaid at gunpoint and forced him to surrender. Finally, Junaid was taken into custody, and Kabir’s mission was a success.

What happened to Farah?

Farah was absolutely terrified as she had been used and betrayed by everyone around her and ended up in a situation she never wanted any part of. After Junaid was captured, it seemed like Kabir was finally ready to keep his promises to rescue her and set her free. But there was a problem—Junaid had torn up her passport to get rid of the tracker, and  it would take some time to get her a new passport, so in the meantime, Kabir had to make sure she was kept safe. Kabir told Farah that he would take her to the safehouse quarters, but Farah knew that she’d be alone there, left to deal with all the trauma and pain by herself. She realized she could not escape this nightmare anytime soon and felt incredibly lonely.  When Kabir saw her in so much pain he couldn’t help but feel sorry for her, as, after all, she was in this position partly because of him, and he couldn’t just ignore that. Maybe out of that guilt, Kabir felt responsible and decided to take Farah to his own home. He wanted her to feel safe and not abandoned anymore. Farah finally felt a bit of relief because Kabir was there to take care of her, because if she was left alone in the quarters, Junaid’s men would definitely track her down and kill her as she had betrayed them. At least at Kabir’s house the chances of her being found were lower, and Kabir would be there to protect her.

By the end of Tanaav episode 6, things started to heat up for Junaid as he was interrogated and tortured to get information about Al Danisq’s whereabouts and his plans. The authorities managed to get some crucial details about how Al Danisq has recruited young people like Zafar and Raman, who are the children of Counter Terrorist Unit officials. These kids are pulled into this dangerous world and they don’t even know the full horror of Farid Mir’s (Al Danisq’s) intentions. Malik Sir was able to pass this information along to the right people, so they could try to keep these children safe. Meanwhile, the officials showed Junaid pictures of Kabir and Farah together during his interrogation. In his anger and frustration, he seemed ready to spill everything he knew about Al Danisq (Farid Mir) to get out of the mess he was in. However, it looked like he wouldn’t do so immediately, and for that, he was thrown in jail, and he met someone there whose identity is still unknown to us. We might find out more about this person in the next part of the series.
