Spoilers Ahead

Why was Yusuf bhai after Vasant?

Yusuf Bhai is a notorious don in Mumbai, where everyone from the government to the police was in his pocket. But his rise to power didn’t happen overnight. As a kid, he watched his father, who worked at a mechanic shop, get burned alive by his master. It all started when Yusuf stole his master’s expensive watch from his shop to play with, and when the master could not find it the next day at Yusuf’s father’s shop, he got furious and, in a fit of rage, burned the shop down with Yusuf’s father inside. Yusuf never forgot that, and as he started to work for the master, he planned to kill him to get his revenge, and he did. After that Yusuf took over his master’s entire empire, and forced the master’s wife, Swati, to spy on opposition politicians to win elections, gain influence, and build his reputation. So it was clear that, more than money, Yusuf craved fear and respect from everyone. That’s why when Vasant tried to outsmart Yusuf, he had to take his revenge on him. Remember how, in the last season, Vasant told everyone that New Zealand would win a cricket match against England after getting the update from the Taaza Khabar app? Yusuf believed Vasant and convinced everyone, from politicians to businessmen, to bet big on New Zealand. But when England won, Yusuf was humiliated in front of all these powerful people, and for this he didn’t just lose money, but his respect as well, as his election funding was cut off. Yusuf wanted payback for the loss of both his money and his pride.

When Vasant heard from Kismat Bhai that he had angered Yusuf Bhai, Vasant knew there was no easy way out. So, he started paying Yusuf back, even double the amount Yusuf lost in the bet, but it wasn’t enough. Half the money went into Kismat’s pocket, and the rest went to Yusuf. So, where Vasant appeared rich to the outside world, he was, in reality, drowning in debt. That’s why he began distancing himself from his loved ones Madhu, Peter, and Mehboob Bhai all, to make them hate him so they wouldn’t get caught up in his mess. Vasant came up with a plan: after seeing on the Taaza Khabar app that he was going to die, he told Peter to help him fake his death. Vasant wanted people, including Yusuf, to believe he was killed by some slum mafia. The plan worked, and Vasant went into hiding. But Yusuf’s men didn’t stop there, they destroyed Madhu’s fashion showroom, Mehboob’s bakery, and Peter’s Chinese food business, so even though Vasant got away, his loved ones suffered because of his mistakes even though he tried to protect them. So to get by, Peter and Julie began making social media reels while Vasant’s parents, who had lost their home, started to live with them in the slum.

From all this stress, Vasant’s father got ill, and he was hospitalized. That’s when Peter thought it was a heart attack and begged Vasant to come see his father one last time. When Vasant showed up at the hospital, his parents, who thought he was dead, were shocked to see him alive. That’s when the news broke that Vasant had faked his death and betrayed Yusuf again. Kismat called Vasant to threaten him to pay up. But Yusuf couldn’t hold back his anger and was deadset on killing both Vasant and Peter. At that moment, Vasant’s Taaza Khabar app, which had stopped giving him updates for a while, started working again. It happened because, when Vasant was living in secret in a car, he’d saved a young girl named Sangeeta from being assaulted by a group of men. So the little girl blessed him and said he would get whatever he wanted from then on. To prove that Vasant still had that blessing for which he was famous, he used the app in front of Yusuf Bhai to predict that an earthquake would hit Gujarat and shake Mumbai too. When it happened just as Vasant said, Yusuf turned his anger toward Kismat as he realized Kismat had double-crossed him and Yusuf killed Kismat to make an example out of him, to show no one could deceive him. So, even though Vasant managed to escape from Yusuf for the moment, he was left with an enormous debt to pay Yusuf Bhai back, 500 crores in just 15 days.

Why did Yusuf Bhai kill Vasant’s father?

Vasant realized this time it wasn’t going to be easy, because not only did he have a huge debt, but Madhu, the love of his life, was really angry at him and it was understandable. She had lost her showroom because of him, and on top of that, she was pregnant with Vasant’s child and struggled to handle everything on her own. Even though things were tough, Vasant still had Peter and Mehboob by his side, who were ready to help him figure it all out. Their first bit of hope came when Vasant got news that expensive whale vomit had been found on a Mumbai beach. They rushed to collect it as Vasant knew that it could be sold for 1 crore per kilo, but on the dark website, it was only sold for 50 lakhs which was obviously not enough. Then, Vasant heard about a jet plane crash that would lead to 150 crores worth of FDA-approved drugs being discovered. He thought it could be his big break, but when he got there, he found out the drugs were life-saving injections for SMA disease and these are something only the rich could afford. He remembered Madhu told him about a child suffering from SMA, so, despite his huge debt, Vasant gave one of the vials to the hospital in the hope to save the child’s life and win back Madhu. He planned to sell the rest of the drugs at a discount to help those in need, and hopefully, make enough to start repaying Yusuf Bhai.

At the same time, Vasant wanted to protect his parents and thought to send them away for good. But Yusuf Bhai got the news of how Vasant tried to outsmart again and, for that, Yusuf didn’t just demand 1000 crores from Vasant in seven days, he also took Vasant’s parents as hostage. Vasant realized he had to be even more careful from now on as his parents’ lives were in danger. So, he managed to kidnap the son of National Sports Council Secretary Raman Mukhopadhyay and demanded 100 crores for his release. This move not only helped Yusuf secure his position in the sports council, but also brought in some cash. However, Vasant’s next plan went terribly wrong. He got news from the app about a diamond merchant named Vikram Kher, that income tax officers were after him, and promised to give him security if he would give Vasant 1500 crore rupees. Vikram was desperate, so he offered Vasant two rare paintings from his bedroom where each was worth $50 million. Vasant thought this would solve everything and he could clear his debt to Yusuf and free his parents. But it all backfired as Yusuf found out the paintings were fakes. Yusuf had finally had enough as he felt betrayed, humiliated, and tired of giving Vasant chance after chance. So to show who is the boss, Yusuf shot Vasant’s father right in front of him to instill fear in Vasant and to make him realize that he could not always escape the consequences of his actions.

Did Vasant repaid his debt to Yusuf bhai?

Vasant knew he had to repay his debt, but he also knew he needed to take his revenge on Yusuf Bhai. When he got the news that a memory card worth 1000 crores in Bitcoin would be found in the Andheri landfill, he rushed to retrieve it. But instead of the memory card, all he found was a goat and he decided to sell the goat for some cash to scrape together a small amount of money to give to Yusuf. Soon after, Vasant heard that a building in Mumbai was going to collapse. He was desperate and he saw an opportunity when Vasant discovered a stash of cocaine through the Taaza Khabar app and decided to plant it in that building with the help of Madhu, Shaziya, and Wasim as they hoped it would be their last chance to take down Yusuf. Vasant then approached Reshma Appa, who had become Yusuf’s go-to entertainment queen, and convinced her that she could change her life by getting away with the cocaine and teaming up with Vasant. But Vasant wasn’t naive, because he knew Reshma would probably double-cross him and take Yusuf to the building to get away with the cocaine. He had his suspicions confirmed, but in the building, there was not only Reshma and Yusuf, but Vasant’s close ones Mehboob, Shaziya, Madhu, and Peter were also, who had also been called over there to find the cocaine. Reshma, who was running a human trafficking ring under the guise of an NGO for street girls, used the poor girls, including Sangeeta (the same girl who had once blessed Vasant) to smuggle the cocaine in their bags. The girls quickly realized something was wrong, but feared Reshma and had no choice but to comply. They loaded the cocaine onto the bus, while Vasant and Yusuf got into a violent gunfight. During the shootout, the building caught fire after an electrical machine was hit. In the chaos, the little girls wanted to help Vasant, so they tied up Reshma Appa in the bus. Madhu’s arm also was grazed by a bullet but she managed to join the rescue. She, the girls, and Vasant all knew this fight was now between Vasant and Yusuf. With the help of the fire brigade, the girls made it outside the building just in time. On the other hand, Vasant waited for the right moment to take down Yusuf once and for all as they knew the building was moments away from collapsing. But before he could shoot Yusuf to take his revenge, the building crumbled. But as they say, a hero never dies, so Vasant survived, when Yusuf was gone for good.

In Taaza Khabar season 2’s ending, we see Reshma Appa was finally arrested for running her human trafficking ring. The police took credit for finding the cocaine on the bus, even though they were the ones who protected Yusuf in the first place. But with Yusuf gone, they had to play the heroes to secure their promotions. And what happened to Vasant? Well, remember that goat he found at the landfill? From the goat’s droppings, Vasant discovered the 1000 crore bitcoin memory card. Life is a funny funny thing as they say, where Vasant started as a sanitary worker, and now, from a literal dump, his life changed once again. He became rich and got his luxurious apartment back again. But this time, Vasant understood the true value of money, as he had seen firsthand how greed could make or break someone, and he knew he couldn’t afford to let it control him again. Vasant realized he couldn’t rely on the Taaza Khabar app for money anymore because even though it had made him rich, but it had also nearly destroyed everything in his life and turned the blessing into curse. So, in the end, Vasant made a choice as he threw away the phone with the app for good. After all, he had everything he needed: his love, Madhu, their soon-to-be-born child, his mother, and his loyal friends by his side. What more could he ask for? For Vasant, the greatest wealth of all was to have his loved ones with him and that was enough.
