“Sky Rojo” is a 2021 somber comedy, a Spanish drama that explores the lives of three women: Coral, Wendy, and Gina. These women spent their whole lives working as prostitutes, and despite every struggle, they stood through various obstacles and fought for themselves. An accidental murder on their part changed everything around them and opened up new challenges in their lives. Moreover, the first two seasons provided an overview of how the trio eluded their boss, Romeo, and their pimps, Moises and Christian. Although they were cast into the concrete pits to die, Moises rescued them from death. Eventually, Romeo is able to put Moises under his control by killing his younger brother, Christian. Romeo knew that Moises was responsible for the trio’s return but did not reveal anything since he wanted to keep Moises with him at all costs. The trio stole Romeo’s laundered money from Moises and Christian, and in the middle of it, Christian was gravely wounded. Romeo didn’t treat him, and all the excessive blood loss killed him. Romeo and Moises were profoundly in love with Coral, and she took this opportunity to wrap them around her finger and extract every little detail about Romeo’s money supply. Although the situation has calmed down, Moises is still waiting to attack.
Spoilers Ahead
Episode one of “Sky Rojo” Season 3 began with the return of Moises as he buried Christian’s corpse next to his father in the desert, and the sound of the shovel intensified everything. Seeing his mother alive was the next thing Moises asked about, and just like Romeo planned, he thawed his mother’s body and staged her death in a hospital room. At that time, Moises trusted Romeo’s intentions, so he continued to work for Romeo. Throughout his life, Romeo had looked after himself and Christian’s needs. Romeo needed to establish a boundary with the brothers and having them commit horrific crimes created a rift in their relationship. Though Moises accepted his past, a part of him resented Coral, Wendy, and Gina. Moises sought them out until he discovered their new hiding place. To hide Romeo’s money, the trio had opened a bakery, and that decision had enhanced their lifestyle. The trio knew Moises would catch up with them sooner or later. In the middle of all that chaos, Gina developed a romantic bond with her diving instructor, Toni. They had had a distressing relationship in the past, but both found peace with each other.
Ultimately, Wendy fell in love with a woman called Greta at the gas station. She’s been visiting Greta a lot, but nothing’s happened since Greta’s been dating someone. In addition, Coral suffered from painful nightmares that reminded her of her past. Wendy and Gina adapted to the new environment, but Coral was not able to cope with the silence around her. Likewise, Romeo was stuck in the past; he could not accept the sudden changes and did his best to conceal the truth. Romeo approached the other ladies of the Las Novias club and threatened them into obeying him. Romeo promised a debt reduction. Once all the money was paid, these women would be able to go back home. In return, he expected nothing more from them than loyalty and silence. Romeo is worried about the sudden friendship of his chauffeur, Tattoo, with Moises. Romeo had complete control over Tattoo’s life, and Tattoo advised him to stay out of it.
This response didn’t make Romeo happy. He gave 25,000 euros to Tattoo and pretended he wanted to send him to Cuba. Tattoo initially said no, as he had recently moved in with his girlfriend, Marisol. But money drew him to the offer. Romeo told him to notify his girlfriend, and once he had, he stabbed Tattoo with a broken glass bottle and killed him. Romeo had Beefcake dump Tattoo’s body. He was still alive when Beefcake and Romeo hid his body in a pipe. Well, things took a different turn in the trio’s lives. As each of them grappled with different challenges, Toni asked Gina to marry him. Gina objected because Toni didn’t know about her past, but he was willing to accept anything to keep Gina in her life. Everything went well until Gina called her mother, and this mistake brought them back to their past.
Gina was still mad at her mother since she had sold her into a brothel. Gina refused to forgive her mother, but they eventually talked to each other. Gina’s mother shared that they had a peaceful life since Gina’s father found a job in Remedios. She asked for forgiveness and shared her perspective on Romeo. Gina’s mother believed he was a kind man because he helped them survive. Even though she made no promises, Gina told them that one day she might accept her family again. But here’s the thing: Gina’s mother had been kidnapped by Romeo’s men, and they took Gina’s son Carlitos with them. They proposed a great deal of money to Gina’s mother in exchange for the life of her daughter. Those men traced Gina’s call and found the trio’s location. The next morning, Romeo informed Moises that the girls were on the coast of AlmerÃa. Now, the pursuit is about to start again. This time, Moises will not forgive them because he is blinded by his undeniable belief in Romeo. Coral, Wendy, and Gina had to decide because their baby was on the way too. All the small moments were enough to please Gina, yet she did not understand that Romeo would not leave them easily and would pursue them until he took revenge. Romeo threatens Gina’s family again in exchange for money and Carlitos’ life. This time, Gina was the one who ruined everything, even though it had been three months since the whole thing happened at the club. The nightmare was just about to begin.
