In the previous episode of Sight Unseen, Tess Avery, with the help of Jake and Sunny Patel from the Eyes Up app, solved the murder of a famous painter named Hamish and saved her brother from being accused of involvement in the murder. However, to save Tess, Jake took the hit and was suspended from work.
The 7th episode of Sight Unseen seemed to be the most thrilling one yet. There is a trusted informant named Victor who was accused of homicide, but he did not do it. However, the interrogation was halted by Vice Officers Catelyn and Eda, as they did not want to reveal the truth behind something they were trying to hide. What are they trying to hide? During the investigation, Victor died from a drug overdose. Are they involved in Victor’s murder? If not, then who did it and why? Let’s find out.
Spoilers Ahead
How Did Victor Die?
Tess waited outside their trusted informant Victor’s house because he was suspected of a homicide crime. She was there with Detective Leo, who had a different way of doing things. When Victor arrived at his girlfriend’s house and she hugged him, Tess thought they should approach him calmly because he could get angry easily. But Leo didn’t listen and chased after him. When Victor tried to run away, Tess used Sunny’s timely advice and stopped him by opening her car door. Victor said he would only talk to Tess and Jake, even though Jake was currently suspended from work. They called Jake to join the conversation. While they talked, Jake was making coffee for Victor, but in the meantime, Officer Catelyn from Vice called Jake to say they should hand over Victor to them as he has a lot of information about an ongoing crime and the information can get leaked. Tess asked Victor about being seen near a man’s apartment before he was found dead. Victor didn’t answer. Instead, it appeared as though he was about to share a secret about another investigation, but Detective Catelyn and her colleague Eda intervened and stopped them from asking more questions as they realized Victor was about to tell something that they didn’t want to disclose. Suddenly, Victor collapsed and died from a drug overdose in the interrogation room, but before dying, he uttered the word “knight.” One of Victor’s associates mentioned that Victor had some leverage over the police, so they couldn’t arrest him. Forensics found drugs in Victor’s coffee, making everyone in the police department, including Vice, seem suspicious. Eda blamed Jake for making the coffee, but Jake said he left it unattended when he took a phone call from Vice. Some suspected Eda and Catelyn, who arrived just before Victor died, so maybe they spiked his drink. Everyone started accusing each other.
How Did Detective Leo Get Involved With The Murder?
Sunny Patel delved into Victor’s police records and discovered that Victor had testified about a person named Turner Knight being murdered two years ago. This could be Victor’s leverage. The jurisdiction was on the east side, suggesting that Vice might have solved the case. Turner Knight had killed an undercover officer named Mike, who was part of Vice. So, there’s a chance Victor knew someone from Vice might have killed Turner Knight in revenge for Mike’s death. It’s later revealed that Detective Leo was part of Vice but left after Mike’s death, as Leo, Mike, Catelyn, and Eda were known as the “Four Horses of the Apocalypse,” and Mike’s death changed everything. There’s a possibility Victor threatened the vice officers, saying he’d reveal their involvement in Turner Knight’s murder, so they drugged and killed him. Leo apprehended Victor the night before, and when examining Leo’s evidence, it was noticed that Victor’s phone was missing, suggesting Leo removed it to cover his tracks. As they were about to discuss this, Jake suddenly collapsed after drinking coffee, showing signs of the same reactions that happened to Victor. Tess, with help from Sunny, searched the garage for an epinephrine pen. However, Sunny’s power was cut off in her apartment, forcing her outside despite her fear of leaving, but she was saved by her concierge. Meanwhile, Tess followed her instincts and found an epinephrine pen in a car’s cabinet, saving Jake’s life. This led to the conclusion that Leo might be involved. He was connected to Vice, was present when Jake drank the coffee, and removed Victor’s phone to hide something.
Who Was The Real Murderer?
When Leo entered the room for interrogation, he saw Eda was also present, both of them being prime suspects in the case. As the interrogation began, they revealed that after Leo left Vice, he and Eda stopped talking because they had an affair, causing strain on Leo’s marriage. However, Leo denied any vengeful intentions towards Victor. During the interrogation, Sunny noticed Catelyn’s constant gaze on Tess, indicating her vigilance to ensure Tess doesn’t uncover something they’re hiding. While being questioned, Leo admitted that he allowed Eda to speak with Victor the previous night without anyone’s knowledge because Victor wanted them to get rid of the murder charges against him. Meanwhile, Tess discovered that even though Victor’s phone was missing from the evidence, his smartwatch remained, containing crucial information from his phone. Tess decided to plant a camera in the evidence room, allowing Sunny to observe the proceedings. The camera captured Caitlyn entering the evidence room and retrieving Victor’s watch, only to realize she was being recorded. Caitlyn and her accomplice, Eda, were subsequently arrested as they were attempting to frame Leo for the murders of Turner Knight and Victor when they were the ones who did it to take revenge for their colleague and friend Mike’s murder.
At the end of episode 7, Sunny asks the concierge out on a date, believing she can trust him, only to overhear him speaking on the phone and mentioning he has his eyes on her. This revelation leaves Sunny feeling uneasy and uncertain about who she can truly trust. Meanwhile, Jake arrives at Tess’ house with a bottle of wine, expressing his gratitude towards her for having saved him. However, upon seeing Matt and Tess enjoying a dinner date together, Jake is deeply hurt, and he quietly leaves the place.
