‘Shahmaran’ Season 2 Recap And Ending Explained: Is Camsap Dead Or Alive?

In the ending of Shahmaran season 1, Sahsu comes to know of the Shahmaran prophecy and realizes it was not just a myth. She also learned her lover was a basilisk (half human and half snake) and he was a part of the prophecy. Sahsu had to subject herself to many revelations, which included that of her grandfather Davut, who was really the Shahmaran’s lover, Camsap. The man was immortal and had been living in guilt for thousands of years. Shahmaran season 2 was about how Sahsu accepts the prophecy and the possibility she’ll have to sacrifice herself for the sake of it.

Spoilers Ahead

What was the aftermath of the clash at Maran’s home?

As Sahsu and Maran declare their love for each other and unite, Lilith comes out of the well to have her revenge on humans for destroying their world. Since Sahsu and Maran were together, Lilith’s first move was to destabilize the man mentally. To fulfill that purpose, she killed all the members of Maran’s family. Sahsu’s grandfather Davut was also stabbed by Miraç on the orders of Cihan, and he was presumed dead as well. Maran was devastated, but he was also now responsible for making sure the prophecy was fulfilled. Maran and Sahsu had a face-off with Lilith before they initiated a full-fledged war between snakes and humans. While Maran wanted harmony between humans and the snakes just like Shahmaran, Lilith wanted to destroy them as she did not trust them like her sister did.

What were the tasks assigned to Sahsu?

Sahsu was slowly transforming into Shahmaran, the goddess, now that the prophecy was on its way to completion. Sahsu was willing to sacrifice herself for the other land from where Shahmaran used to rule. However, for Shahmaran to gain the power to come back in full form, Sahsu and Maran realized they would have to finish three tasks. With the completion of each task, they would have to walk through a door, which would add to the power of the goddess. The completion of the third and final task would allow Shahmaran to come back to her old powerful form, and she would be able to tackle her evil sister Lilith.

Was Lilith powerful?

Lilith was extremely powerful. Her centuries-long wait in the well had turned her into a supremely dangerous basilisk who could manipulate anyone and cause havoc in the name of sustaining her species. She managed to rope Lakmu, Cihan, and Mirac to her side in the hope of fighting a crusade against humans. She convinced the whole population of basilisk living in the Basilisk district to use their power to their advantage. Lilith caused an anarchical situation where the people who were half human and half snake were convinced by everything she said and began to go on killing spree.

Lilith had another powerful basilisk, Abra, by her side who would do anything for her master. She was attracted to Cihan, and they eventually slept with each other. Her target, apart from stopping Maran, Sahsu, and Shahmaran, was to go after rich businessman Mesut Gurmak, who was taking advantage of the basilisks. Lilith tried to use all her might to threaten him, but the man was not distraught by her threats. One of the locals who got carried away by Lilith’s blasphemous speech was Kadir, who also wanted to get rid of Mesut.

Why did Sahsu and Maran move to the Basilisk district?

Sahsu and Maran moved to the Basilisk district to gather support against Lilith in the hope of maintaining the peace between humans and themselves. Lakmu tried to join the group, but sensing he was a spy for Lilith, Maran killed him and hung him outside of where Lilith was living now. Lakmu’s mortal remains were found by his son Cihan, who vowed to kill Maran. Lilith asked him to be patient as she gave him her example, who waited for centuries to come out of the well and right now she was far more powerful than she had been when she went in. As mentioned above, Lilith’s inflammatory speech led to a riot-like situation that Maran and Sahsu couldn’t control.

Was Grandfather Davut alive?

As the situation in the Basilisk district was becoming volatile by the minute, they found Davut wandering aimlessly in the streets. The man had no memory or recollection of how he reached there. Maran and Sahsu found a reason to get out of the Basilisk district and move back to Davut’s home near Maran’s residence. Davut was still not talking, and along with that, he could hardly recollect or remember anything from the past. Sahsu had to remind him repeatedly that his name was Davut.

Why did Sahsu forgive Mirac?

The first task involved forgiving someone who had wronged Sahsu. This one was easy to solve, but it was Sahsu who was not sure if she could forgive Mirac for stabbing her grandfather. Sahsu somehow agreed to forgive Mirac, but Lilith managed to gravely injure him as she was aware he could be a crucial player in making Shahmaran powerful. Sahsu and Maran found the barely alive body of Mirac.

Abra and Cihan were witnesses to Sahsu bringing Mirac back to life. Mirac now changed his allegiance and joined Maran’s cause after he and Sahsu saved him from a horrible death. The first task was done, but Maran was upset that Sahsu was visibly turning into someone else, and she would eventually be a different person. He wanted Shahmaran to come back, but in that process, he felt he was losing the woman he loved.

Who turned up to meet Maran?

Diba, Maran’s younger sister, who was killed by Lilith, was raised from dead by her in a ploy to get closer to Maran. Diba came back looking for her brother, and Sahsu was suspicious of her movements. Maran woke up in the middle of the night on hearing his sister calling out to him, which took him to a forest, only for him to be stabbed in the back by Diba. Maran’s death would also cripple the plan to make Shahmaran powerful. Sahsu reached on time, killed Diba, and saved Maran by injecting him with her fangs. Though Sahsu was guilty of killing Diba, Maran understood why it had to be done, as it was Lilith’s evil magic that brought his sister back to life.

Why did Cihan kill himself?

Maran was on a crusade to save humans and get basilisks to rally behind his cause of killing Lilith’s followers. Cihan, on the other hand, had begun to doubt Lilith’s plan as she was using him to be a butcher to kill any human in sight. It messed with Cihan’s mind, and he was not sure if he wanted to continue to be a part of her crusade. He finds out Abra also felt stuck with Lilith, and she never wanted to kill as many people as her master wanted. For Lilith, it had become an addiction while Abra and Cihan decided to walk out on her. On bringing up that they wanted to move away from her cause, Lilith gave him the ultimate chance of killing Maran.

As Cihan and Maran began to fight to the death, Abra wanted to stop the madness. She used her power to control Cihan who killed himself by slitting his throat using the weapon he had on him. Abra did the same thing to herself, as there was no way out for them from the shackles of Lilith.

Did Sahsu fulfill the task of making Shahmaran stronger?

Sahsu was onto the second task, which involved taking someone to the well below where the world of Shahmaran existed. They were supposed to discover something that would help in making Shahmaran powerful. As Maran and Cihan figured out a solution to this puzzle, they find her grandfather Davut attempting to kill himself over the guilt that led to the death of his lover. His memory was fluctuating, yet the guilt was frothing up, which made him take the extreme step. This was when Sahsu realized they had to take him to the well to find answers for the task assigned to her. As they walked into the forest far away from their home, Davut, who was also Camsap, was unable to recall anything.

How did Camsap die?

Cavges, the oracle, arrived at the scene only to let her know she would have to transform into Shahmaran for Camsap to reveal what they were looking for. Shahmaran emerged from Sahsu’s body and Davut had also turned into a young Camsap. They reunited briefly, only for their meeting to be cut short by Lilith, who was aware of what was transpiring. Lilith wanted to kill everyone close to Shahmaran in the hope it would devastate her sister further. The immortal Camsap finally died at the hands of Lilith.

How did Shahmaran tackle her sister Lilith?

As Shahmaran found the well and the world underneath, which had been there for countless centuries, she knew Sahsu would have to give up on Maran and the love they had for each other that had developed in a short span. The third task involved sacrificing the love Maran and Sahsu had for each other for Shahmaran to come back in full form and restore the balance. Sadly, the balance could not be restored because of Lilith, who finally managed to one-up her sister. Lilith went out of her way to sabotage her sister and their plan to bring back sanity to the world. Lilith could be described as an evil monster who showcases dictatorial aspects in her way of ruling her people. She was good at mentally and emotionally manipulating her followers, though that did not work on Maran or Sahsu. By the looks of it, it would not work on Shahmaran either, who was familiar with her sister’s tactics. Shahmaran and Lilith were equally strong at this point, but the latter figured since the balance cannot be restored, her sister would give up on her quest to bring back peace. Just before she fully transformed into Shahmaran, Maran helped with the shedding of the skin by soaking her in a bathtub as they reminisced about the brief love they shared. Maran helped her just like his sisters did for him. This was like a small hibernation phase just before confronting her full might.

As Maran was confronting Lilith’s followers by killing them one by one, Shahmaran, on the orders of Cavges, confronted Lilith. The face-to-face battle was inevitable. Lilith revealed she hated Shahmaran for letting a human into their world and trusting him with all her might. This was a centuries-old argument, and Lilith had never forgiven her for the mistake Shahmaran made. For Lilith, the betrayal followed by imprisonment made her immensely powerful, but unfortunately for her, she could not withstand the energy generated by her sister. She probably underestimated Shahmaran, who, with all her might, pulled Lilith into a hug one last time before sending her back to the well. Shahmaran had to do that to restore balance on earth, bringing back peace between humans and snakes. Lilith wanted the opposite, and she could not fight back with her sister. Lilith’s last call of distress had to be overlooked because Shahmaran chose herself and the sanctity of the world over her sister.

Was Sahsu dead or alive?

Mesut, however, was still at large. There was an attempt on his life when the basilisks went on a rampage to kill all the humans. Mesut was saved by Maran and Sahsu, and the rich businessman was told about Shahmaran’s prophecy, which caused the eternal battle between humans and snakes. Mirac was the one who was in Mesut’s captivity and spilled the beans about the prophecy that would give a lot of power to Shahmaran. The hype around the basilisk goddess worried Mesut, which made him arm himself with the axe that was owned by Lilith, the weapon she had given to Cihan to kill Maran. Since that did not happen, it was Mesut who got himself the weapon to kill what he assumed was a creature. Mesut could be a reincarnation of the king who went after Shahmaran, betrayed Camsap, and raided her land.

Maran and Sahsu, who had fully transformed into Shahmaran, had their final conversation about the love they would have to abandon. Maran and Sahsu knew this day would come, but emotionally they weren’t ready to separate from one another. Since Maran worked towards making the prophecy a success, he would have to make the sacrifice, and so will Sahsu.

The second season of Shahmaran ended with Maran in the world of goddess Shahmaran. He was tackled by Mesut and his armed men. Shahmaran was waiting for the ultimate sacrifice as Mesut headed towards her with the axe. There was hardly any clarity on how Mesut reached the well and got down into the world of Shahmaran. They might have either followed Maran to the place or this was just a scene that required some suspension of disbelief to showcase the final conflict between the human and the snake. There was no confirmation if Shahmaran died or not because the scene moved to Maran’s backyard as he sensed the wind picking up. He might be considering this an omen from the land of Shahmaran and hoped this was a sign of her return. Shahmaran may not have died at the hands of Mesut, because she was too powerful for him. Sahsu may also appear in another form to restore the balance as they find each other once again.
