Why did Adrian want to meet Jax?
When Jax went to meet Adrian, she knew there was a real chance she might be in danger. She didn’t want to take any risks, especially after what happened with Damon when he tried to intimidate her and then committed suicide in front of her. So, this time, Jax brought her PI, Daniel, with her as a backup. As soon as Jax stepped into the dark room and saw Adrian with a gun, she quickly took control of the situation and threatened to call Daniel if Adrian tried to attack her. She tried to remind him that only if she was safe, could she protect him. Realizing the seriousness of the moment, Adrian handed over the gun to her, in exchange, he said he would come to court and confess his involvement with Shanelle and reveal everything. But, there was one condition—he needed protection from Evan, who was breathing down his neck for the money. Actually, Jax found out from Daniel that Evan wasn’t just a financial advisor but was also involved in a gambling ring and even a child trafficking operation. Adrian had made a big mistake by trusting Evan when he had opened a trust account under Shanelle’s and her kids’ names and made her sign it, but in reality, Adrian owed Evan money and had tricked Shanelle in the process. Adrian promised to confess everything in court, but he insisted that Evan needed to be arrested to ensure his safety. Jax assured Adrian she would take care of it and leave the room safely. But she had something else brewing in her mind, a reasonable doubt if you would. She started to wonder if Adrian might have killed Jamarion himself, out of love for Shanelle. Maybe this would be his way to win Shanelle back—by confessing in court that he was the real murderer, not Shanelle, the so-called cold-blooded trophy wife who had suffered for a crime she didn’t commit. With this in mind, Jax decided to call Adrian to the stand for the next day of the trial.
What happened on the next day of the trial?
The next day of the trial brought even more drama. First, the 911 dispatcher was called to testify, and she speculated that, from Shanelle’s call, it seemed like she couldn’t bear to look at her husband’s bloodied, dead body. It felt like she was asking for help more out of shock than guilt and it felt like Shanelle was still trying to protect herself. Then, Shanelle’s real estate agent took the stand and she shared that Adrian would sometimes accompany Shanelle to look at houses and they seemed like they were in love and that they were looking for homes with a pool for their kids to play in, not extravagant mansions like the one Shanelle and Jamarion had. This didn’t seem like the actions of a cold-blooded murderer, but rather, the choices a loving mother would make. Next, Jamarion’s football coach, Powell, testified, and he said how he often overheard arguments between Shanelle and Jamarion, where Shanelle’s sharp voice could be heard, and Jamarion would sometimes have cuts on his face and hands. The coach implied that Shanelle might have attacked him and provoked him to play the victim card. However, Powell had testified for a football player accused of murder in the past, so his statements didn’t carry much weight because of his unreliable track record. Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for—Adrian took the stand. He confessed how he met Shanelle through Jamarion and how he quickly fell in love with her. They used to write each other handwritten letters because they were so deeply in love, but they knew Jamarion watched them closely, so they didn’t want to take any risks. When Shanelle was first jailed and then bailed out, Adrian wanted to take her away from everything because he couldn’t stand seeing her in so much pain. However, Adrian admitted that while he was deeply in love with Shanelle, he had never planned to kill Jamarion. He made it clear that Shanelle had indeed killed Jamarion. But he also confessed that Shanelle had no idea about the money he took from Evan and how Adrian had lied to her by claiming the money was Adrian’s so that Shanelle would leave Jamarion and be with him. In reality, the money came from an illegal gambling operation company called Willgoose, which had been started by Jamarion and Evan. Adrian knew that confessing this in court would put him in serious danger, but he did it anyway. Jax was true to her word and made sure Adrian would be protected. She went to the LAPD and spoke with Lucy and her superior to ensure Adrian’s safety. Through this, finally, Evan was arrested for being the leader of the sex trafficking ring, thanks to Adrian’s confession.
The drama doesn’t stop for Jax though, because at the end of Episode six, we see how Jax finally realizes something was up with Lewis when she went to the hospital to visit her mother and, to her surprise, she saw Lewis there too. She called him to surprise him, but he didn’t pick up and later, when Lewis finally answered, he told her he was busy at work. Just then, Jax found out that Tony was at the hospital as well to get her DNA test results. And guess who Jax saw in the background? None other than her own husband, Lewis! Now, the big question is: will Jax confront Lewis about this? Or will Lewis finally come clean and tell her the truth himself? Either way, it’s going to be interesting to watch it all happen. Plus, if Lewis really is Tony’s baby’s father or not that we’ll also find out in the next episode.
