In the last episode of Reasonable Doubt Season 2, we saw Corey taking on Shanelle’s case to prove that she killed her husband, Jamarion Tucker, in self-defense after years of abuse. Corey had a bold strategy—keeping Shanelle in jail for as long as it took to clear her name and finally set her free without the guilt of being called a murderer by the famous footballers fans. But Jax didn’t agree with that plan. She didn’t want Shanelle to stay away from her kids, so she got her out on bail. But then, things took a wild turn. Shanelle took Jamarion’s $30 million, which she premeditatedly moved to her own account months before she killed him, and vanished. Why would she do that after everything? And what’s going to happen next? In this new episode 3, we’re about to find out if Jax and Corey will track her down and uncover her true motives.

What did they find from the bank?
Shanelle running away made it clear—she didn’t want to be found. You can clearly imagine how devastated Jax was; Shanelle wasn’t just a friend, she was like a sister to her. Jax couldn’t understand why Shanelle would just flee instead of fighting back. Maybe Shanelle was terrified to think that Corey’s plan to keep her in jail would mean she’d never get to see her kids again. So, when she finally got out, she didn’t want to take any risks. It was clear, Jax blamed Corey for making Shanelle so nervous in this tough situation. But the case was still on trial, and if Shanelle couldn’t be found, both Jax and Corey would be in serious trouble. They decided to issue a warrant and ask the judge to put the case on hold since Shanelle was a survivor on the run, not a fugitive. They were desperate to find clues to track her down. Shanelle was last seen at Sally’s house, so Jax went to question Sally as they hoped she might know something.
While they were there, Jax and Sally found an envelope in Jordan’s bag, clearly marked to be opened in case of emergencies. Inside were bank locker details. Jax knew she had to check that bank locker first thing in the morning. When she did, she found something shocking—Sally had been legally entrusted to be Jordan’s guardian. There was official paperwork and everything. But that wasn’t all. There were also multiple photos showing Shanelle battered and bruised, clear evidence of the abuse she suffered at Jamarion’s hands. Seeing those photos made Jax anxious and guilty—she blamed herself for being a bad friend, not being there for Shanelle when she was so torn apart. But one thing was certain: Shanelle had planned to kill Jamarion. She knew that after it happened, someone else would need to take care of her daughter, and she made sure to document the abuse in case those photos were ever needed. Shanelle wasn’t some cold-blooded mastermind; she was just trying to survive and protect her daughter. Just as Jax was discussing all of this with Corey, Dan walked in with a new piece of information. Shanelle had been at the bank the day before, and they had found the CCTV footage. She wasn’t alone—she was with her new love interest, Adrian, who was Jamarion’s best friend and mentor. There’s a chance they were raising money to run away together. And since Adrian was injured and couldn’t play football in the last season, maybe he needed the money to get by. With all his free time, he could have plotted this whole thing. Now, Jax and Corey knew they had to find both Shanelle and Adrian before it was too late.
Did Shanelle and Adrian get caught?
Jax and Corey had mixed feelings about Shanelle running away. On one hand, they thought it was a stupid move—she shouldn’t have fled. But on the other hand, they realized they could use the photos of the abuse Shanelle had faced to strengthen their case to show the world the tragic reality of her situation. They knew they had to use this evidence strategically. So, they went to court and asked the judge to issue a one-week warrant to find Shanelle. But we all know Lucy Wargo, strict and by-the-book as always, wasn’t having it. She reminded them that their duty was to protect public safety and that personal feelings couldn’t interfere. She gave them just 24 hours to catch Shanelle as one week was too long—Shanelle and Adrian could be in Mexico by then. Jax tried to explain that Shanelle wasn’t a danger to anyone but herself, but it didn’t help the case.
Meanwhile, Shanelle and Adrian were clearly in love and planning to escape to Mexico. They were getting a car and documents from a guy named Dallas to help them. But Shanelle couldn’t help but think about what might have happened if she’d stayed and fought the case. She realized there was a real chance she could have won because, without her family, she didn’t really want to be on the run. But for now, she needed to survive, and when Adrian promised to be with her, she had strength. But then, Dallas got caught by the police, and through him, they found out where Shanelle and Adrian were hiding. Jax and Corey didn’t waste any time. After talking to Lucy and getting backup, they set out to catch them. When Jax arrived with her team, Shanelle panicked and thought about running again. But when she saw her friend, who was genuinely trying to help, Shanelle felt a glimmer of hope. Instead of running, she made the tough decision to surrender. She and Adrian were both cuffed, and Shanelle ended up back in prison.
Why did Jax decide to be on the case after all?
Jax went to see Shanelle in prison, desperate to understand why her friend had decided to run. What Shanelle told her broke Jax’s heart. Shanelle explained that she felt abandoned when she saw Jax hand the case over to Corey. Jax clearly doubted that Shanelle could win, and that shattered her. If even Jax didn’t believe she could make it, what hope did Shanelle have? She felt utterly alone when she realized that there was no light at the end of the tunnel. She was exhausted from surviving the abuse, torture, and breakdowns, and that’s why she thought running was her only option. Hearing this, Jax realized just how much Shanelle needed her. She had been so caught up in the case that she didn’t see how much her friend was struggling. At the same time, she saw how Corey had been working tirelessly to change public opinion. He was out there, fighting on social media, showing how the system was broken, and explaining why women like Shanelle felt like running was their only hope. Seeing Corey’s determination gave Jax a new sense of hope and faith in him. She realized that if they teamed up, they had a better chance of winning the case for Shanelle and giving her the justice she deserved. So, Jax decided to be the second chair, with Corey remaining the first chair. Together, they made the decision to join forces, determined to fight for Shanelle and help her find a way out of this nightmare.
By the end, it became clear that Corey wasn’t just fighting for Shanelle—there was another woman named Isabella, who was also in prison, and Corey wanted her to win too. It turned out that Corey knew Shanelle’s case, being high-profile, would attract a lot of attention. He saw it as a chance to not only help Shanelle but also to boost Isabella’s case and bring her justice as well. While his intentions were good, it explained why Corey took on Shanelle’s case in the first place. Meanwhile, there was a twist with Adrian. After he got out of jail, a mysterious man tracked him down and forced him into a car. There’s a chance that Adrian might have been planning to take Shanelle’s money to deal with this man who’s been threatening him. It made me wonder—was Adrian just using Shanelle all along by pretending to care about her to get what he needed? The truth behind Adrian’s intentions, and what’s really going on with Shanelle, is something we’ll hopefully find out in the next episode.
