A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a whodunnit show that sets out to solve a five-year-old closed case. This is not the police or the court ordering the case to be reopened. It features a young girl who is considered one of the smartest in the school, who has decided to conduct a parallel investigation into the tragic deaths of Andie Bell and her boyfriend Sal Singh. Pippa, a high school student headed to college soon, had a project to submit in arrangement for the university. As a part of that, she decided to find out what transpired in Andie and Sal’s lives leading up to their tragic ends. Sal Singh sadly died by suicide after having confessed to having killed Andie Bell, who had disappeared, with her body never to be found.

Pippa had hoped to get help from her best friend Cara Ward, whose older sister, Naomi, used to be best friends with Sal Singh. Pippa could not get much information from Sal’s best friends, including Naomi and the very rich Max Hastings. Pippa figured her only way to know more about Sal was from his younger brother Ravi Singh. Ravi initially bonded with Pippa over a small conversation until she became honest about why she wanted him around. Ravi was offended by her approach, but as soon as he slept on her proposition of helping him find the reason behind his brother’s death, he agreed to join Pippa in finding out if there was any truth to the official investigation’s findings.Â
Ravi Singh was a young school-going student as well, just like Pippa, and so far he was also a victim of his family being shamed for having a boy like Sal Singh as a part of it. Ravi and his family, by the looks of it, distanced themselves from the locals after Sal admitted having killed Andie just before killing himself. Ravi wanted to leave behind the trauma and possibly give himself closure. The only way for him to do that was to help Pippa with her investigation. Pippa took advantage of the fact that she was a young girl and nobody would take her work seriously. Ravi, however, believed in her cause and helped her map out the details she received from Sal and Andie’s friends to begin with. Ravi Singh and Pippa called themselves the local Sherlock and Watson, who were seeking clues that the police missed five years ago. They had become a team, and no one suspected them or tried to badger them initially.
Pippa had come across information from Max Hasting about Andie being a drug dealer, he had purchased from her many times. This led Pippa to a rave party, where she received more details about the drugs she purchased and their hiding place. Ravi, being the Watson of the two, helped her get the doll that hid the drugs from Andie’s bedroom while they barely escaped being caught by Becca, Andie’s younger sister. Ravi at times did give up on the idea that Pippa could ever bring closure to the case. The same happened to Pippa as well, who, amidst all the running around with Ravi, started to believe Sal may have killed Andie after all.
Ravi felt his brother was being blamed for no reason, and the last text message he sent as a confession proved the phone was used by someone else and not him. It was Naomi’s confession to Pippa that changed the game for the duo, and they were further down the road to finding out who blackmailed Naomi, Max, and Jake, as the same person had killed Sal. Ravi eventually gave up on finding out who might have killed Sal, and he chose to move away from the town in the hope of letting go of the past. The young boy was traumatized by the death of his brother, and it got slightly frustrating to see the leads were dead ends for him and Pippa. The duo always met in her car near the pond, a secret place to discuss the case further after every lead they ever got their hands on. Thanks to Pippa, Ravi learned who killed Sal. He was content to know his brother did not kill himself out of guilt, as there was a whole different story behind Andie’s death. Becca had confessed to killing Andie, and there was a chain reaction that led to Sal’s murder, which was passed off as suicide.
Ravi had an instinct that something might go wrong as Pippa would stop at nothing to find the answers she was seeking. He was smart enough to take help from Cara, who had put a tracker on Pippa’s phone. Ravi and Pippa did have a strange connection between them, as they had spent a lot of time together. Even though they passed off everything as friendship, it was obvious from their chemistry that they were slowly falling in love. Ravi had gone out of his way and put himself in danger as well to help Pippa with her project. He also made sure to encourage her to concentrate on her Cambridge University interview, as she was a brilliant student who had a great future. Ravi loved her for who she was, and his fondness was on display when he went out of his way to rescue her from Becca with Cara’s help.
Ravi, just like Watson, had to go after Pippa and rescue her from the trouble that had befallen her because of her curiosity. The young boy was the cautious one, while Pippa was the risk-taker. He had to find her and could not help but save her from being killed. This indicated the fact that he indeed liked her and would not want her to take away from him just like his elder brother was. By the end of the series, Ravi did make peace with his brother’s passing, but also ended up kissing Pippa. As mentioned above, it was the case that kept Ravi distracted from the fact that he loved her, and she reciprocated his feelings when he was by her side throughout the ups and downs of the investigation until all was well.
