‘Monique Olivier: Accessory To Evil’ Episode 5: Recap: Did They Find Estelle Mouzin’s Dead Body?

In the fourth episode of ‘Monique Olivier: Accessory to Evil,” Monique and Fourniret received their sentences. On March 28, 2008, Fourniret was sentenced to life in prison, while Monique was to be released from prison after 28 years. The prosecutors wanted to dig deeper into the case. They found that the pair didn’t have many cases between 1990 and 2000, which was impossible because Fourniret was obsessed with killing young girls. At that moment, prosecutors realized that Fourniret had murdered about 35 girls in total. They had only been convicted of the murder of seven girls, but this revelation was to change everything for the couple. In the final episode, we learned more about an unknown person who had come forward to share more details about the Fourniret case. The two had met in 1984 when Fourniret was arrested for assault. Throughout the episode, the man revealed his identity, but he also spoke about the chilling details of Fourniret’s character. He had written a letter to Fourniret asking him to confess to his crimes. In the letter, Fourniret wrote about the other victims and left blanks for the police to fill in.

The letter revealed that he had murdered more than 35 victims. This was a challenge for the police, and they knew that Fourniret wanted them to find the missing girls. The investigation was reopened, but the only person who could give them information was Fourniret himself. Richard had decided to talk to Monique about the missing girls, but she lost her temper and complained about everyone not trusting her.

Who Was Estelle Mouzin? What Happened To Her?

In 2015, a woman named Milica approached the prosecutor’s office about the murder of Estelle Mouzin. According to her, Monique had inadvertently shared the details of the case with her. Milica had been convicted several times of embezzlement and fraud. They hadn’t spoken for 18 months until Milica became interested in her case. Estelle’s father had published an interview on the news, begging to get his daughter back. Milica decided to intervene and find some information that might be relevant to the case, and Monique responded that Estelle was the kind of child Fourniret was obsessed with. This was enough to understand that Monique was still lying about her involvement in the murders. On January 9, 2003, Estelle’s parents couldn’t find her anywhere, but there was no evidence of her disappearance. So police officers began searching everywhere for her, hoping to find a definite clue. But even after an extensive search, the policemen couldn’t find any trace of her. After conducting a thorough investigation, they found more information from Estelle’s classmate; she told them that she had been approached by a man. They decided to make a sketch that would be very helpful in finding the kidnapper.

Eventually, the sketch matched Fourniret’s description, and he became a potential suspect in the case. However, Fourniret was not in the area at the time of Estelle’s abduction, having been on the phone with his oldest son at the same time. Police determined that the two locations were far apart and that it was impossible for Fourniret to get there in time. Eight years had passed, and the police officers could not find a solid lead to find Estelle. Milica revealed that Fourniret had already anticipated this situation and had instructed Monique to dial his son’s number if he came home late. So it was Monique who had called Fourniret’s son on the day of Estelle’s abduction. However, police officers were not convinced by Monique’s claims, believing she could be lying. In 2020, the couple was reunited while they helped the police officers solve Estelle’s kidnapping. In the end, they were unable to find Estelle’s remains. In May 2021, Michel Fourniret passed away at the age of 79. He took all the secrets with him, and now there was no other way to find Estelle.

Did Monique Olivier Help The Officials Find Estelle’s Body?

Monique’s statements were all lies, and she confessed that Estelle had been alive for some time, but she did not help the child escape. Estelle screamed for help, but Monique had no feelings for her. On August 30, 2021, Monique decided to open up and finally show the exact location of Estelle’s burial. However, the excavators could not find Estelle’s body, and her father was sure that Monique was just trying to attract public attention. Everyone relied on her statements, but throughout the search, her statements were very contradictory. It was very difficult to understand Monique’s character. Everyone knew that she had been the master manipulator all along. To this day, Monique has refused to cooperate, and Estelle’s body was never found. She believed she was being blamed for a crime she had not committed. Richard had tried to talk to her about Estelle’s disappearance. But she never said anything more about the cases. Without Fourniret, Monique was carefree, and Richard tried to involve her in the investigation of Estelle.

Now the Mouzin family was still waiting for another trial to learn more about their daughter. Still, Monique should never be released from prison because she will never reveal the truth. Monique will be able to apply for her release in 2032. But people will never forgive her for the crimes and the life she took. Even though Monique was an accomplice of Fourniret, it does not change the fact that she was a heartless monster all along.
