Did Dimple decide to join Rishi in Hyderabad?
Season three of Mismatched began with Dimple upset over getting rejected for the prestigious internship at Nandini Nahata College of Technology (NNIT). Rishi was selected along with Krish, Anmol, and Celina, and it’s been three years since that incident. Rishi and Dimple were still doing long-distance and both were meeting each other in the virtual world created as a part of Nandini Nahata’s project called “Betterverse” as he had given Dimple access illegally.
Dimple, on the other hand, had not applied for any other course. Her father eventually took the reins and convinced her to look forward to building a life instead of getting bogged down by small failures. Dimple got a scholarship to study and develop an application at Lady Lovelace Institute of Technology (LLIT), a college headed by her ex-lecturer Sidharth. The college was right next to Nandini’s college and since Nandini and Sidharth were ex-business partners, there was animosity between them. Dimple decided to move to Hyderabad and surprise Rishi by meeting him at his campus. Both were happy to have finally met after a long gap and behaved as if there was never a distance between them.
What was the project Rishi was working on at NNIT?
“Betterverse” was the virtual world Rishi, Anmol, Celina, and Krish were developing for Nandini Nahata. Their future in the world of technology would rely on how good the final product was. Nandini was very strict about the confidentiality of this project. During this time in college Rishi ran into a new student called Anuradha who had a crush on him. On the other hand, Krish and Celina began to hook up casually when he learned his old girlfriend had moved on too quickly. Anmol and Vinny were going strong, and him being in a wheelchair was never a cause of concern. However, Anmol was hesitant about becoming physically intimate since he did not want to disappoint her.
Who was Rithika?
Rithika was a young woman who began to identify herself as a man and wanted to be called Rith. She was in Gujarat working who hacked into “Betterverse” thanks to Rishi, who’d disabled the firewall to give access to Dimple. He wanted to prove that he was a capable hacker, and through the virtual world, he wanted to come out as a man. He lied to his parents about getting admission in NNIT and moved to Hyderabad. His skills were on display during a Valentine’s Day event at NNIT but Nandini was not impressed. Sidharth gave Rith admission in LLIT as Dimple saw potential in him. Rith was Rithika on campus and yet again he was having a tough time coming out as a man. Only Celina and Dimple were quick to deduce that Rith felt like a man on the inside and wanted to transition. However, Rith is still adamant about hacking into “Betterverse”, but he stopped as he was falling for Celina. Celina began to like Rith and she cut off her casual hooking-up with Krish to focus on her new relationship and be supportive as he was going through a tough time.
Did Zeenath and Sidharth plan to adopt a child?
Sidharth and Zeenat were in love and in this season, both were in a live-in relationship, and soon Sidharth moved to Hyderabad to head the LLIT. Zeenath began to entertain the idea of wanting to adopt a child. Both had a long discussion over it and decided to go ahead with it. They soon got married, and Zeenath moved to Hyderabad to be with him. Initially the couple assumed the adoption process would take a few years. However, they were shortlisted for a child just a few months into their marriage, and Sidharth began to have cold feet about it. Zeenath tried to pacify him, and it seemed she talked him into going ahead with the plan.
Why was Dimple upset?
While at college, Dimple learned that her father had passed away. Dimple and her father were close, and he was the one who had encouraged her to pick up her life from scratch and rebuild it. Rishi was by her side, giving her all kinds of support. Rishi, who had signed up for the college play with Anuradha, had to quit midway as he wanted to concentrate on Dimple’s recovery from the tragedy.
What was the app Dimple developed?
Dimple decided to come out of this hole she was in by concentrating on the work she had joined the LLIT for. She decided to develop an application that would allow people to converse with their deceased loved ones based on the online footprint left by them. An idea lifted from the “Black Mirror” episode “Be Right Back.” Dimple shared a basic version of the application with her ex-boyfriend, Harsh, but he was disturbed by the concept and shared this concern with Rishi as well. Dimple’s application was rejected by Sidharth, who asked her to process the pain instead of turning it into something that could make it worse. She was dejected as she could not take this application idea to Technovate, a tech festival both NNIT and LLIT were preparing for.
Did Anmol and Vinny break up?
Anmol, on the other hand, was not fond of the kind of people Vinny was hanging around with. She and her classmates were fighting for a classmate who was molested by their college lecturer. Instead of talking to the victim, Anmol felt Vinny and her friends were aggravating her pain. Vinny’s friends were a core concern, as Anmol began to wonder if they tried to get mileage out of his condition to promote their cause. Anmol was not happy with the fact that Vinny was not standing up for him when he voiced his opinion on how to handle the matter. He began to accuse her of using him for ‘woke mileage.’ Anmol also claimed that Vinny was made to believe that his history as an online troll takes precedence over his current transformed persona. Vinny was dejected and upset, and Anmol broke up with her at that moment.
Was there a tiff between Celina, Rith, and Krish?
Celina wanted to use Krish’s parents’ contacts to get Rith connected with surgeons to help with his transition at bare minimum cost. Krish, who was not aware of the budding relationship between Rith and Celina and was hurt to know the woman he loved was using him. Since he wasn’t aware of Rith’s identity, he kept referring to him as a woman. An angry Rith used Krish’s access card to get into the “Betterverse” server and hack it as a retaliation for humiliating him in public.
Why did Dimple and Rishi get engaged?
Dimple’s mother landed in Hyderabad, and was still recovering from the tragedy of losing her husband. She insisted Dimple and Rishi get engaged as soon as possible. Engagement was close to getting married as well, and this would help the duo to take their lives seriously from that point on. Dimple and Rishi agreed to her request, and the preparations began for the same. His mother’s hotel was the venue for the engagement, and the couple was going through their usual emotional ups and downs, discussing if their decision was right or not. Around the same time, Krish was at college when he learned “Betterverse” had been hacked and he had to inform Celina about the same. He accused Rith for the hack, as the date of the attack coincided with the day all three of them got into an argument.
Rith learnt the news of the hack from Celina and his facial expression gave away the fact that he did the hack to get back at Krish. He was apologetic to Celina, but she could not have it anymore as she realized Rith was childish. She also learned from him that the firewall was compromised when Rishi allowed Dimple into the “Betterverse” long before she joined LLIT. The hack issue was temporarily sorted out even though Dimple knew of the situation from Celina, but both decided to not let Rishi know about it. On the same evening, Anmol tried to get back with Vinny as they both apologized for their behavior. However, Anmol breaking up with her over a small argument upset her, and she requested him to not call her back.
Sidharth, after carefully giving it a lot of thought, let Zeenat know that he wanted to put a hold on their plan to adopt a child. He claimed he was not ready, and since they had just gotten married, Sidharth wanted to spend some time with her instead of diverting their attention to the newborn kid. Dimple, after the engagement ceremony, learned that her father had not paid for their entry to the tech festival Technovate. She initially assumed it was Rishi or his father who paid the registration fees so that she could participate and represent her institution.
What happened at Technovate?
After the engagement ceremony, the entire team from LLIT and NNIT landed in Mumbai for Technovate including the newly engaged Rishi and Dimple. Everyone was ready with “Betterverse” for it to be showcased. This was a big deal for Nandini and her team as they were looking forward to this day. If “Betterverse” was liked by the investors, it would turn into something huge in the virtual world game scenario, and there would be further investors who would be interested in expanding the universe. Krish wanted to converse with Celina as he wanted to apologize for the way he behaved; however, he felt he was in the right since Rith had tried to tarnish his image because of an argument. The hack would have cost Krish his internship, and Celina was able to empathize with his situation.
Celina had broken up with Rith as she felt he’d used her to get access to the system. The hack also put Celina in danger, as she could have lost her job if the project was shut down. It was a selfish move by Rith, who did not think about anybody else. Rith showed up at a festival which led to another argument between the three. Rith wanted to apologize for his role in the mess, but Krish and Celina weren’t having any of it. An agitated Celina let both of them know that their past did not give them the right to be mean or ruin the lives of others. They needed to learn from their past experiences and become better people instead of taking the negative route. Krish had emotionally unavailable parents, and Rith struggled with his identity. They could turn their bad experiences into something that could be helpful for others. Rith left as she sensed Celina did not want him. To everyone’s shock, “Betterverse” was hacked again, as the virus injected into the system by Rith was only temporarily combated by Krish. It had begun to tarnish the different worlds created by everyone. This would ruin Nandini and her project and she knew the only person who could help her was Sidharth.
Did Dimple and Rishi break up?
Rishi and Dimple were enjoying Marine Drive in Mumbai when he learned of the attack. Dimple was shocked and inadvertently blurted out that the virtual world had been hacked before. This shocked Rishi, as he felt Dimple had been hiding things from him. Even though she claimed it was to protect him, she realized Rishi was right about it. Dimple let him know that she was having second thoughts about the engagement as she was not sure if she wanted that. Rishi received two shocking pieces of news back to back, and he was keen on discussing the engagement part as he loved Dimple. Rishi claimed he felt dejected as Dimple had chosen to keep her feelings to herself instead of sharing them with him. They had been together for a long time, and he expected her to trust him to share what she felt about the biggest step of their life. He was right about his instinct that Dimple was being aloof.
Sidharth asked Dimple to help him sort the matter out since he knew she could help. The only way to find the solution was to get into the world and find the virus and kill it in the virtual world to keep it from spreading. Since Nandini was preparing herself for the presentation, Dimple and Rishi also found time for themselves in the virtual world to discover themselves and the virus. Even though they were able to find the virus, their personal issues were far from over. Nandini’s dream project was completed by the person she considered her arch nemesis. Dimple had to take use of Rith, who was on his way to his hometown to make some major decisions about his life. Dimple also showcased her ‘Dadbot’ application at Technovate, which surprised Rishi and Sidharth as they were against it initially. They did not want Dimple wallowing in the misery of losing her father. They’d killed the idea because both felt Dimple was not processing the pain.
Dimple, however, showcased the same application with some changes and further added that she’d created this for people who would want to make the loss of the loved one less painful. Since she faced a tragedy, she wanted to find a solution for those who’d been through something similar. This application would bring sentimental value, and that would be a key selling point as well. However, the IT team of the Nandini team learned that Krish had planted the virus in the “Betterverse.” This was bound to happen, and Rith wanted Krish’s name to appear so that her revenge was complete. However, this had been back then, and now she was apologetic, but somehow the records would only point fingers at Krish. Celina came forward to protect Krish and revealed it was Rith all along. Nandini was further enraged when she learned that the firewalls were weakened when Rishi allowed Dimple into the “Betterverse.” This was unforgivable as Nandini had made it clear that security was an important aspect, and her team betrayed her, which almost cost them the project.
Rishi confessed to his role since he did not find any reason to put the blame on Rith. He was the mature one, and he took the right step. Nandini removed Rishi from the project with immediate effect since that was the only way to prove her authority over the project. Rishi wanted to come out clean, and the consequence was him losing his internship and possibly his future plans in this field. Anmol, one last time, met Vinny in the “Betterverse” and patched things up by apologizing to her. It was not clear if meeting a person in the virtual world was possible since Vinny was not wearing VR glasses to meet him. This was a huge plot hole in the screenplay; however, they sugar-coated it with Anmol’s change of heart, since he wanted to head back to Jaipur. He knew Vinny was the right person for her, and he would do anything to have her by his side.
Mismatched Season 3 ended with a dejected Rishi and Dimple coming back to Marine Drive to discuss their future. Rishi was not sure how to react since he could not believe what had happened in the last few hours. Dimple was not sure about being engaged, and he’d lost the internship as well. The couple, however, discussed how deep their love was. Dimple gave back the engagement ring because that was the right thing to do. Dimple did not want to resent or hate him in the future, which was why she felt taking a step back from the engagement and working on their respective careers was a good idea. They kissed in the end, which indicated that they were not broken up yet, but their engagement and eventual marriage can wait. Rishi and Dimple were made for each other, as they’ve been together through their ups and downs. This was just a setback in their relationship, but they would work on it going forward.
