KLASS 95: The Power of Beauty is the new Netflix series that takes us into the glamorous world of fashion, and it reveals that, while the fashion industry might look shiny from the outside, behind the scenes it’s full of secrets, struggles and even danger. Those people who know how to play their cards right like Kelly, Edgar, and the main protagonist, Shaio, are the only people who can survive and even thrive in this world. Let’s dive into the cast and characters to give us a better look into this fashion game.

Kelly 

Kelly, played by Valeria Galaviz, is a young woman who wants to become a top model, for which she’s willing to do whatever it takes to escape poverty and create a better life for herself and her mother, aunt, and sister. Kelly knows how to use her beauty to manipulate men and get what she wants, which even involves making promises she doesn’t intend to keep. When she needed money for her portfolio pictures and her mother’s surgery, she used a businessman named Hollman who wanted to marry her. At first, Kelly thought she could get rid of him, but she soon realized Hollman wasn’t going to back off. He not only wanted to marry her but also have children with her, which Kelly didn’t want. She didn’t want to ruin her body or be tied down with a family. When Hollman found her birth control pills and tried to stop her from taking them, Kelly shot him and fled to Bogotá to join Shaio’s modeling school, KLASS 95. But things didn’t go as planned, as Kelly quickly realized her sister Andrea was the better model, and Hollman wasn’t dead yet—he was still alive and looking for her. To make matters worse, Kelly had to stay on good terms with Edgar, a shady man who protected her, just to keep herself safe from other dangerous men. Eventually, she used Edgar’s assistant, Elver, to get rid of Hollman for good. Kelly’s dream was to become an international model and outshine her sister, for which she hoped to get a passport and visa with the help of Brian, a visa consultant, but Edgar didn’t like this and might try to ruin her plan. Still, we all know Kelly won’t just sit quietly, she’ll do whatever it takes to get what she wants, whether that’s her modeling career or keeping Oscar’s book about her past from seeing the light of day.

Shaio Domínguez

Nicole Santamaría plays Shaio Domínguez, the main protagonist and founder of KLASS 95 fashion academy. Back in 1991, when Colombia was going through a time of political violence, Shaio dreamed of something different. She wanted to help her best friend Paula become Miss Universe, as she knew this was a title that could bring hope to the country. Although her friend ended up as the first runner-up, it still made Shaio shine. Her dream had partly come true, and she was ready to help thousands of other women achieve theirs by opening her own fashion agency, where aspiring models could audition to become the next top model. But Shaio’s journey wasn’t easy, as her personal life was a mess. Her boyfriend Nico wasn’t supportive and her relationship with Berny was really complicated. Still, she pushed forward, and to fund her academy, made the tough decision to partner with a notorious conman named Edgar, because she needed his financial support. Shaio even went abroad with her sisters to finish her studies but she was determined to build KLASS 95 into an international fashion brand. So, she partnered with a major international fashion manager to make her dream a reality. However, her love life remained complicated, and despite her feelings for Berny, Shaio ended up marrying Nico, the man her father chose for her. She got really hurt when she found out that Berny had moved on with the agency’s top model, Andrea, and was about to become a father. Still, Shaio stayed strong and professional as she did not want to let her personal emotions affect her work. She continued to support Andrea and stood by her until the end.

Andrea

Laura Barjum plays Andrea Vanessa, the top model at KLASS 95. Even though modeling was never her true dream and she wanted to continue her studies, her fate had other plans, and Andrea ended up competing with her sister Kelly in the modeling world. Things got even more complicated in her personal life when she got involved with Shaio’s love interest, Berny, and later got pregnant with his child. This situation not only strained her relationship with Shaio but also created complications in both her personal and professional life.

Edgar Trejos

Juan David Galindo plays Edgar Trejos, a man with a strong obsession with appearances, especially his hair. Despite having naturally curly hair, he straightened it daily to present himself as a macho man. Edgar was a con man and a dangerous criminal who dabbled in interior design, but when it came to love, he was willing to do anything for the woman he cared about. At first, he was deeply in love with Laura (played by Laura Cano). To win her over, he went as far as becoming a partner in the KLASS 95 agency, all to make her happy. He even bought her tickets to her favorite concert to make sure she felt special. But later Edgar realized that the Domínguez sisters had played him, as they’d made international deals behind his back and betrayed his trust. So, naturally, Edgar was hurt and decided to look for someone new to replace Laura, which led him to Kelly, whom he promised that he would make her the top model, give her security, and provide everything she needed. But in return, he wanted exclusivity, as he didn’t want to share her with anyone. However, he soon realized Kelly was also playing games with him. Even after he went so far as to kill her ex-husband to protect her, Kelly remained ungrateful and started seeing Brian, a visa consultant. This betrayal infuriated Edgar, and in a fit of rage, he forced himself on Kelly to remind her who was in control, and even plotted to get rid of Brian, which shows that he was not just dangerous but also very unpredictable and terrifying.

Óscar 

Edwin Riveros plays Óscar Lourdy, the narrator of the story, and the one who knows all the secrets of those involved in the KLASS 95 agency. He planned to reveal their lives, not as a scandal, but more like a memoir to share everything he’d witnessed in his time with them. However, Óscar also knew that if he exposed these secrets it could be dangerous, as everyone had skeletons in their closets, and some might come after him to silence the truth. He wasn’t wrong, as Kelly was ready to kill him if he dared to publish the book about the agency. Therefore, as a precaution, Óscar began recording everything on video, almost like a modern-day audio book, to make sure that the truth would come out even if something happened to him. This way, people could still learn the real story behind KLASS 95, despite the risks he faced.

Juanita and Elver 

Juanita was Nico’s friend, and before his wedding, they ended up sleeping together after a night of drinking. But what Nico didn’t know was that this was part of Shaio’s plan. Shaio wanted an excuse to play the heartbroken fiancée and wriggle her way out of marrying him. Later on, Juanita got involved with Elver, Edgar’s right-hand man, who started revealing all of Edgar’s shady business dealings to her, like how he had killed Kelly’s husband Hollman to protect Kelly. Juanita didn’t keep these secrets to herself, though. She shared everything with Oscar and eventually became his co-writer to spill the tea about everyone’s lives for his book.

Berny, Nicolás, and Joaquín 

David Palacio as Berny Gómez, Carlos Báez as Nicolás Rocha, and Diego Trujillo as Joaquín Domínguez had their lives completely intertwined in the series. Joaquín was Shaio’s father, who didn’t want Berny to be with his daughter, even though Shaio was deeply in love with him. Nico knew about this too. So, Joaquín and Nico teamed up to bring Berny down. They went as far as planting drugs in Berny’s gym and calling the police on him to make sure he would end up in jail. Nico did all this to make sure Shaio would stay with him and marry him. When Joaquín realized this might not be enough to keep Berny away, he played on Berny’s emotions. He said his dying wish was to see Shaio marry Nico because Joaquín was dying of cancer. Berny realized after this that he couldn’t run away with Shaio, and instead, watched the love of his life marry Nico. Nico was also determined not to lose Shaio and thus played the role of the perfect husband and son-in-law. He even donated bone marrow to Joaquín to save him from cancer to make Shaio feel indebted to him. Berny realized that there is no way to be with Shaio anymore and finally decided to move on. He ended up with Andrea and became the father of her child as he knew he couldn’t be with Shaio even if he wanted to.
