‘Haseen Dillruba 2’ Movie Cast And Character Guide

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is a fitting sequel to its 2021 Netflix India original Haseen Dillruba.  The first film is a twisted tale of love and the kind of sacrifices people make for the person they are crazy about. As an extension to that story, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba takes the audience on a roller coaster ride as the characters want their goals to be fulfilled. These characters are neither good nor bad; they have many shades of gray, and they tend to act upon instinct rather than logic.

Rani

Taapsee Pannu as Rani Kashyap is back again, but this time as a widow who runs her own beauty parlor. She moved to Agra and secretly began to meet her husband, who, on paper, is supposed to be dead. Just like her husband Rishu, she is keen on running away from her current life to some place else where she is not weighed down by the local police. Rani’s the only one who knows her husband is alive, and they want to lead a normal life as a married couple. Rani, this time, just like in the first film, comes up with a plan that could further endanger her and Rishu. Her marriage to her admirer Abhimanyu only makes things worse, as she must run a balancing act between her first husband and her second one and make sure things don’t spin out of control.

Rani wants to live a life on her own terms, and she is aware that her husband wants the same, which is why it is easy for her to bring another person into her scheme just to make sure they as a couple eventually get out and make a life for themselves. She is a tad bit selfish but is willing to ruin the life of a person who admires her just for her benefit.

Rishu

Vikrant Massey plays the complicated husband Rishabh Saxena, aka Rishu. He is crazy about his wife Rani, so much so that he cut his hand off in the first film Haseen Dilrubajust to get themselves out of murder charges. Rishu, who wears a prosthetic arm on his left hand, cannot help but move to Agra with his wife. On paper he is dead but to keep that illusion alive he must live under an assumed identity and meet Rani discreetly. Unlike Rani, Rishu is far more pragmatic and plans to leave the country with Rani and move to Thailand, to a life away from the cops.

Rishu is now living off his earnings as a tuition teacher at a coaching center, and he sadly has attracted the attention of his landlord, Poonam, who tries to seduce him. Since on paper he does not have a partner, the attraction from the opposite sex was bound to happen. Rishu, unlike Rani, wants to do the right thing, knowing the police are closing in on them and they have no choice but to surrender. Sadly Rishu has to agree to Rani’s outlandish plans because he wanted nothing in this life but to be with her. Rishu believes her when she says the elaborate plan will only benefit them in the long run. There is nothing he would do that would harm Rani, as he wants to spend the rest of his life with her as a simple married couple.

Abhimanyu

Sunny Kaushal as Abhimanyu is a new addition to the sequel Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba as a compounder who is head over heels in love with Rani Kashyap. Even though initially she never gave him any attention, his love for her never faded away as he kept pining for her. Abhimanyu is also an orphan who lost all of his family members tragically, which makes it easy for him to choose a bride for himself. Unbeknownst to him, he becomes a part of a bigger plan that Rani hatches for herself and her husband to lead a safe escape route out of their country. Abhimanyu comes across as someone who could be borderline obsessed with Rani, and just like Rishu he would do anything for her. Abhimanyu could be in for a shock if he ever comes to know Rani used their relationship for her own benefit, and it might spiral into him having to reveal his ugly side.

Kishore

Aditya Srivastav as Inspector Kishore reprises his role in the sequel, and this time yet again he is hell-bent on proving Rishabh Saxena is alive. He truly believes Rishu, along with his wife Rani Kashyap, killed Neel, the cousin who had visited the couple at their home but had never left. Kishore catches up to Rani Kashyap and tries new techniques to get her to talk about her husband. Kishore this time has additional ammunition: officer Mruntyunjay Paswan, who happens to be Rishu and Neel’s uncle. Kishore also knows he cannot let Rani out of his sight as he is aware that she and Rishu will work on coming up with a plan that will help them get away from the cops. Kishore has a theory, but no proof that Rishabh is alive unless he catches him red-handed. Whether he will or won’t is the question.

Montu Chacha

Jimmy Shergill, as Mruntyunjay Paswan, aka Montu Chacha to Rishu, has been assigned this case because he wants to get to the bottom of Neel’s murder. Montu Chacha’s arrival in the scenario is unexpected, as Rani and Rishu’s plan to abscond from the country is decided. Montu Chacha ruins their plan as he goes after everyone in Agra who he suspects knows Rishu. Montu Chacha claims to have known Rishu very well from childhood, which makes it easier for him to force his nephew to come out of his den. Inspector Kishore is also in awe of his work because the man is on a mission, and he will go to any extent to get Rani and Rishu to confess to their crimes. The only obstacle is Abhimanyu, and the police will probably have to use him to get to the couple.
