The last episode of the first season of the Frasier reboot ended with the Christmas party Frasier had thrown, wherein everyone had to talk about many things from their past, which was uncomfortable. Both father and son came to terms with their history and celebrated Christmas as a family for the first time in many years. The second season will again have the same characters in Boston while Frasier and Alan continue being professors at Harvard University.Â

What were Frasier and Alan celebrating?
The second season began with Alan and Frasier celebrating one of the best meals of their lives, which they had had in Spain many years ago when they studied at Oxford, England. The meal was the reason why they became friends, and to celebrate that, they were recreating it by ordering a special cut of ham from Spain to commemorate forty years of friendship. Frasier learned that Alan had advised David to pursue studying chimpanzees in Cameroon. Alan’s answer to David’s question regarding his dilemma was ‘indubitably’ which left Frasier dumbfounded.
Why was Dr. Frasier angry at Alan?
Frasier was angry when he learned that Freddy took the suggestion of his college professor about quitting Harvard instead of going to his father. Frasier was further livid on learning it was Alan who responded to a confused Freddy with ‘indubitably’ when asked if he should follow his passion instead of continuing his education in Harvard. Frasier felt Alan crossed the line and took away the moment that was supposed to be between Freddy and his father.
What did Alan use to make the decision?
Freddy and Olivia at Harvard convinced Frasier to reconcile with Alan. They claimed his one-word answer gave them the strength to walk away from something they weren’t sure about. Alan never gave them advice but just that one word answer, which helped both to forge their own path. Olivia revealed Alan’s one-word answer helped her break up with her then boyfriend and continue pursuing her teaching career at Harvard. Frasier felt he might have been overreacting, which made him approach Alan again. However, Frasier found a magic 8-ball device, a toy that gives one-word answers based on any question asked by people. It turned out Alan had used the device to offer this one-word answer to Freddy and Olivia. While Freddy remained unperturbed, Olivia and Frasier were further livid and realized Alan was indeed naïve,and had been giving answers based on no other factors but the words spat out by a toy. Alan, out of sheer anger, canceled ‘ham’ day, and Olivia began to obsess over her ex-boyfriend, who was now a billionaire, and she was wondering what would have happened if they hadn’t broken up. Â
Who oversaw the ham coming from Spain?
David took care of the ham coming from Spain. He was joined by Eve, who wanted to make sangria for the meal. Things do not go as planned as Eve tasted the special ham and found it delicious. David got addicted to the taste as well but quit eating it because he was supposed to prepare it for the evening. He accidentally smashed the cake by dropping the meat onto it. In the process of wiping off the cake pieces, the meat accidentally got stuck in the garbage disposal unit. Both David and Eve were not sure how to salvage the meal and found themselves at wit’s end.Â
Was Freddy feeling guilty?
Freddy went back to his place of work, the fire station, where he was having a Q&A session with schoolchildren. He began to talk about how his decision to quit Harvard was based on Alan’s advice, who’d used a magic 8-ball device for a response. The kids at the station began to attack him with legit questions and he wondered if he let go of a moment between him and his father many years ago. Freddy came back home and apologized to his father for not coming to him and not seeking him out for advice. Freddy felt he snatched that moment away from Frasier and wanted to make it up to him.Â
Freddy, who remained unperturbed about the magic 8-ball toy being used to decide his future, suddenly was offended as he understood the gravity of his decision and how Frasier may have been a better person to seek advice from than a lazy person like Alan. Freddy does not regret leaving Harvard, but he regrets not taking the right kind of advice from someone who had had life experience. Alan was not the right kind of person, Freddy realized, and so did Olivia, who began to question the breakup and the way it happened.Â
How did Alan and Frasier reconcile?
Freddy and David realized the fight between Frasier and Alan was plain stupid. They were too old to be fighting over something that happened many years ago. In hindsight, Alan’s one-word answers did wonders for Freddy and, to some extent, Olivia as well. Freddy was doing good for himself, and he was proud of the decision he made. Alan also claimed this was a psychological trick he’d used. Freddy and Olivia wanted to do what they did, and Alan nudged them further, which helped them find a better choice for their life than being stuck on something that never made them happy. Freddy was not happy at Harvard, and Olivia was not happy in that relationship, and as a result, they were questioning their life situations. Alan’s way of finding answers might have been childish, but it helped in the long run.
Frasier started to make sense of what Alan was trying to convey, and he was softening up to his friend and willing to forgive him as well. Alan and Frasier began to discuss the events of the day they had the best meal in Spain. The memory of that day reminded both of why they became friends. Frasier and Alan had been friends for a long time, and a silly fight could not diminish the memories they had shared over the years. Alan and Frasier reconciled. Eve and David announced the special ham was ruined. Frasier was devastated, but instead of overreacting, he accepted the situation for what it was. The episode ended with everyone at home eating the meat off the ham, which was meant for the fancy dinner celebrating Frasier and Alan’s friendship.Â
