Fake Profile, the Colombian Netflix Original, is all about a woman who was cheated on by a rich man who claimed to be a plastic surgeon. Camila was the said woman, and she flew all the way to South America only to realize she had been lied to, and decided to stay back to get her revenge. The revenge plot opened up a Pandora’s box, as many characters began to show their real faces. Season one ended with many revelations that shocked the family. Cristobal was Angela and Adrian’s half-brother, which was why their father, Pedro Ferrer, was keeping him away from his family. Angela accidentally killed her father and was imprisoned, and Camila and Miguel parted ways . The second season is about all of them having to deal with each other again since a serial killer was on the loose, killing people they know very well.

Spoilers Ahead

Where was everyone at the start of season two?

Fake Profile season 2 began with the murder of a married man by a certain woman he met via a dating app. Her MO was to lure him to the bed and asphyxiate him using a polythene bag. The show moved to Cartagena in Colombia, where Camila was running her club, ‘Golden Lips,’ and was engaged to be married to David. She met David in the first season of the show, and in the second installment, both were deeply in love. Camila, however, was undergoing therapy to get rid of her memories of Miguel and the trauma he put her through during their fling. Therapist Joaquin came across as a good counselor until it was revealed he was a serial abuser and had recorded many steamy details Camila had shared as a part of her therapy. Joaquin was obsessed with her, but he was yet to let her know about it. Angela was released from jail within eighteen months, after serving her time for accidentally killing her father. She was looking forward to taking over her father’s real estate company, which was temporarily being run by Santiago Santos. Santiago and his wife Vanessa were Angela’s neighbors as well.

Miguel was back in Angela’s life, as he wanted to be there for his children. Lucas, his son, was still livid at Miguel for his affair with Camila, and was unwilling to forgive him. Miguel, however, promised to be a father who would be involved in their lives, but his goal was to get in touch with Camila. Miguel had begun to harass Camila, begging her to leave David. He felt Camila loved him even though she angrily asked him to back away from her life. Inti was still around, and his presence was not appreciated by Angela or Camila, who knew the man was up to no good. Not long after Camila and David’s wedding, several incidents took place that forced everyone to meet and revisit their past. Miguel kept harassing Camila, and she eventually had to file a restraining order against him. Angela and Camila met after a long period, and the hatred between them was palpable. Inspector Indira was back in their lives as well, and her work involved having to interrogate the same set of people after two murders were reported back to back in the same gated community Angela, Santiago, and Vanessa lived in.

Who was getting killed?

Adrian, Angela’s brother, was found dead in his pool. This was also followed by Cristobal’s death in the same place after a few days. Adrian was Angela’s neighbor, and this death came as a shock. Indira Martinez, the police officer, started her investigation and began to connect the dots with the murder that was discovered in the hotel room a while back. Camila was called in for questioning, as the killer had used her stage name on the profile of the dating app. Angela was quick to blame Camila for the murder, but she did not have any evidence to back that claim. This was followed by Laura, Angela’s other new neighbor, finding a body in the sea when she went swimming with her boyfriend, Matteo. Indira believed the body found in the sea was from three months ago, making it the first killing carried out by the serial killer. Along with that, Indira revealed the deceased was also an ex-resident of their gated community.

What was Angela up to?

Along with harboring hatred for Camila and Miguel, Angela was keen to take over her father’s business. Santiago was not keen to hand over the business since he wanted to eventually own the super profitable real estate company. He believed he had worked hard to keep the company floating after Angela’s father’s death. Angela became good friends with Vanessa, Santiago’s wife and she learned he was an emotionally abusive husband and a serial cheater. Not long after this, Vanessa and Angela fell in love with each other, even though the latter was dating her other neighbor Emmanuel.

Why was Inti a suspect?

Indira’s investigation into the serial killer situation led her to Inti, who was seen in the CCTV footage of the gated community where Adrian lived. He was also found with the man who was killed in the hotel room as well, making him the prime suspect in the murders. Inti was arrested in no time, and he had a horrible time in prison as a bisexual man.

Did Camila’s marriage fall apart?

Camila was on the verge of making a triumph with her  business, as a Mexican businessman was keen to open a ‘Golden Lips’ franchise in his country. She and David were excited about the prospect of expanding her business to another country. Their happiness didn’t last long when Camila learned Mugiel was involved in this business deal as he wanted to prove his love for her. Camila was beyond livid, and she realized the restraining order would be useless since this was outside of Colombia. She had to contact Joaquin to know how she would react to Miguel’s actions. Joaquin was quick to deduce that Camila was a masochist who enjoyed the pain she felt being away from Miguel. Instead of asking her to step away from Miguel’s toxic behavior, he pushed her to be with him so that it would further complicate her mind.

Camila’s anger towards Miguel turned into an aphrodisiac, and they eventually slept with each other in Mexico. To her horror, David walked in on them in their hotel room, and she was sad to admit that he was right about her feelings for her ex-boyfriend. Camila’s marriage fell apart within a few weeks, and it was her obsession and the unhealthy attraction she felt towards her toxic ex-boyfriend Miguel was the reason. The physical act of love between them was the culmination of Camila’s mind not coming to terms with her past with Miguel.

Was Joaquin a serial molester?

On returning from Mexico, Camila and David did not waste much time and filed for divorce. David was a good person, and Camila hadn’t been appreciative enough of the fact that he would never play mind games with her to keep the relationship working. She had to go for the ‘bad boy’ type of men who played hot and cold and kept her on the edge of her seat. She was, however, apologetic for her move and was aware nothing could change David’s mind at this juncture. Camila approached Joaquin again in the wake of her marriage falling apart, and this was the first time she began to feel uncomfortable around him as he tried to sit next to her. This was an out-of-the-ordinary behavior from him in Camila’s eyes and he confessed to having been obsessed with her.

Joaquin assumed since she loved a man like Miguel, she would also give him a chance to prove his love for her. But his method of approaching her was borderline creepy, which made her angry. She found out that Joaquin had recorded all of her sessions, and he was forcing himself on her by locking her inside his office. Joaquin, being a counselor, had an unhealthy way of dealing with love and other emotions attached to it, and he was arrested by Indira in no time. It was not made clear how Indira came to know Camila was in distress. This was a show with many outlandish plotlines, and hence, such details could be ignored. Joaquin’s arrest was the smoking gun, as it was revealed that he was known to be a serial offender who, in the past, was obsessed with a teenage patient. He denied those charges, yet it was implied that his character over the years had not changed much. This helped Indira figure out that Joaquin was a criminal, but she did not have enough evidence to keep him in prison for a long time.

Who was the serial killer?

The police were yet to close the serial killer investigation, as the body count was increasing. Tina, Angela’s father’s assistant, was also found dead. Her murder took a while after she confessed about Pedro’s affair with her mother. Tina also added Pedro had molested her as well. Tina was a crucial character in season one, yet she was reduced to nothing in the second season, and her character had nothing much to offer. Her death revealed Angela to be a serial killer as she murdered Tina for speaking up against her father. Angela had changed after her stint in prison, and her time behind bars may have honed her killer instincts, leading to her committing felonies. Angela completely manipulated Vanessa, who was madly in love with her. To their shock, Santiago caught them in the act, and Vanessa did not have any choice but to kill her husband.

Angela helped her dispose of the body discreetly, and Vanessa never batted an eyelid and asked no questions. Angela wanted to stay out of trouble since she was a serial killer. If Vanessa was caught, Angela would be questioned as well, which would lead the police to her. The question that remained to be answered was how Angela committed these crimes if she was in prison. Joaquin, who was acquitted, did not think twice before going after Camila once again. Just like Miguel, there was no end to Joaquin’s obsession with Camila, and he went out of his way to commit a crime to show his love for her. Fake Profile was borderline becoming a telenovela, and the point the makers were trying to prove was that nobody could be trusted.

Camila woke up on a yacht and confronted and yelled at Joaquin, something she had been doing the entirety of season two. Camila did not seem to be happy with Miguel from the start, but in no time, she changed her mind about him and claimed to be in love with him. Joaquin finally revealed that he was Angela’s partner in crime, who psychologically manipulated her to act on her urges instead of stopping her from committing crimes. He was her counselor during her time in prison, and using his consent, she left the prison to commit the first crime.

Joaquin added that Angela killed people because she was against unfaithful men/women. It was not hard to conclude that Miguel cheating on her was the trigger point, and that led her to go on a killing spree. Joaquin was also twisted in his own way, and hence, he began to help her. Angela seriously needed a mental health intervention, and Joaquin was completely useless in this scenario. It was Joaquin who had killed Adrian and Cristobal when they came to know of Angela’s tendencies. Joaquin was probably in love with her as well and wanted to proclaim his feelings for her by getting rid of people who would expose them. Joaquin was killed moments before he could murder Camila. Since he was worried she might expose him, he would rather kill her just like the others to save himself and Angela. All this connecting the dots and confusion came out of nowhere, and hence, just like any dramatic show, Fake Profile season two had an outlandish ending.

Joaquin was shot by Indira, who appeared in time to save Camila and Miguel. This was the end of the serial killer saga, and Camila was safe and sound by the end of it. Angela, on the other hand, was aware the police would come after her in no time. She was, however, not selfish as she left the city with Vanessa. Angela was most likely in love with Vanessa; as a result, she could not abandon her to pick up the pieces of the mess. Angela still believes she was right about killing these people, yet it is surprising how she is okay with being friends with Joaquin, who killed Adrian and Cristobal. This angle is not discussed and, hence, is a plot hole that would be forgotten in oblivion. Season three might have Indira and the police going after Angela and putting an end to this messy relationship saga that does not understand the good and bad of things.
