Babies! Babies and babies! Eva Lasting Season 2 has dropped on Netflix, and after watching the whole season, that’s the first thought that came to my mind. Up until now, we’ve seen that trouble seems to follow Eva wherever she goes, but this time, Camilo is helping to change that narrative. Remember, Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Eva moving to the US to live with her aunt because of her father’s marijuana dealing scandal, and there was also a big question about whether Camilo might be the father of Luisa’s baby since he slept with her just to make Eva jealous. Season 2 picks up right where we left off, giving us answers to all those questions. We find out if Eva comes back, whether Camilo is really going to become a father, and what new drama is going to unfold in Camilo’s life. The season starts off by addressing all the ambiguities. Let’s find out all about it from the recap of the series Eva Lasting season 2.
Spoilers Ahead
Did Eva come back?
Yes, Eva did come back. The new season starts with Eva returning to Bogotá from the US. Her father managed to negotiate with the government, which allowed him to come back under house arrest for his previous crimes of marijuana dealing and money laundering. The first thing she did after coming back to Bogotá was meet Camilo, as she hoped to pick up where they left off and give their unfinished love story a second chance. Little did she know that more shocking news was awaiting her. Camilo was the father of Luisa’s unborn child, which made everything more complicated than ever. Eva realized that Camilo had too much on his plate, and she didn’t want to be a burden. So, she decided to break up with him because she thought it was for the best.
What was Camilo and Luisa’s decision regarding the child?
Luisa and Camilo were both too immature and young to know what the best decision was. They realized this news was going to shock everyone and might even ruin their futures. Even though Luisa first thought that terminating the pregnancy might be a sin, later she believed it was probably the best thing to do. But when she went to an unhygienic clinic run by Camilo’s classmate Quinonez’s uncle, she saw how terrible the procedure was and got scared. Then, Luisa realized she would actually love to become a mother. It wasn’t out of fear of committing the sin or the painful procedure; she genuinely wanted this. And here we get to see the responsible, mature side of Camilo. He did not impose any decision on her because it was her own body, and he realized she should have every right to decide what she would do. He decided to support her through this journey. He didn’t want her to be left alone and promised to be there for her through thick and thin. He decided to take responsibility for the child by getting a job at the newspaper and writing in the sports column to gather money to support both Luisa and the baby. Just because he didn’t love her didn’t mean he would abandon her.
Was Luisa allowed in the school?
When the parents and the school found out about the situation, they decided that Luisa should not be allowed in school. They believed she had committed a sin and that her presence would set a bad example for the other students. Not only Luisa, but even Jose and Camilo’s father and Luisa’s mother decided that both of them should drop out of school. Camilo would find a job and provide for them, while Luisa would stay at home and rest. It’s like they would committed a crime and now have to suffer the consequences. However, we see how Camilo’s mother, Ana, was against this nonsensical mindset. She stood against her own husband during the parent-teacher meeting at school. She expressed that women should be allowed to complete their education, as pregnancy is not a disease. She made sure that over time, people would change their mindsets and become more open instead of dictating decisions that suit their own point of view. Instead of punishing the kids, she suggested doing what’s right for them and not cutting them off from opportunities. On the other hand, as we all know, Eva wasn’t going to let this go without a fight. She gathered everyone for a protest and even wrote an editorial in the newspaper arguing that the school should provide education to everyone who wants to study and shouldn’t discriminate based on these circumstances. Thanks to their efforts, the school finally agreed to let Luisa come back.
What happened at Bucaramanga?
Eva, Camilo, and the others decided to go on a vacation before Camilo had to go to Puerto Rico to finish his assignment for the newspaper. They all went to Bucaramanga, and up until then, everyone thought it was to meet Eva’s aunt. But that wasn’t the truth at all—they went to surprise Pabón with a visit. Honestly, this was the highlight of the season for me! Remember, in the last season, Pabón had to leave Bogotá because people found out about his sexual preferences and saw his homosexuality as a sin, especially after they discovered his encounter with Martín. Unfortunately, things didn’t change much in Bucaramanga either. He was living a double life there as well, still hiding his true self. He even had a girlfriend just to keep his mother happy. Pabón had been forcing this fake reality on himself until his friends came back. Their support gave him the courage to confront his supposed girlfriend with the truth by telling her that he was gay. And from then on, he decided that he wasn’t going to lie or hide anymore and accept his true self as he was.
What happened with Alfredo?
Alfredo was the perfect man on paper, from his looks to his charm, with Colombian and Italian heritage, studying medicine. While Camilo often came off as a boy, Alfredo was the man every woman would desire. To make things more complicated, he was Eva’s ex, and she still hadn’t moved on from him. So you can imagine how much of a threat he was. But Camilo had realized by now that winning Eva over wasn’t going to be easy. He knew she didn’t want to be with him because of the whole Luisa situation, but he didn’t lose hope and ended up telling her how much he loved her and wanted her in his life. Eva decided to give their relationship a second chance and suggested something unusual—they should be in an open relationship where she wanted to date both of them. But it wasn’t as easy as they thought it would be. On top of that, Eva had a secret past with Alfredo that she hadn’t told anyone about, not even Alfredo himself. Before Alfredo moved to the US, Eva was pregnant with his child and terminated the pregnancy without telling him because she found out that Alfredo was in love with another woman. She didn’t want to burden him with the news, and she wasn’t ready to become a mother at that point either. When Eva finally talked about this with Alfredo, he seemed kind of unbothered and even said that he did not want to be a father—not now, not ever. This made Eva sad, and she decided to break up with him for good this time.
What happened with Camilo’s parents?
As I mentioned before, Camilo being a father caused problems, not just for him but also for his parents. During a meeting with the school teacher, it became evident that Ana and Jose had very different opinions. This wasn’t the first time they fought over such a critical matter, but they had always disagreed on everything. Jose had an authoritarian mindset, while Ana preferred a more logical and gentle approach. After much consideration, Ana decided it was best for them to separate temporarily to clear their minds. She even took a job as the principal’s secretary at Camilo’s school to regain her independence so that she did not have to depend on her husband. This decision hurt Jose, who suspected Ana of having an affair with Professor Adolfo at the school, and this led to them having a physical confrontation. And, well, this decision made their relationship even more strained than ever because Ana did not need her man to defend her or protect her; she was pretty much capable of that on her own. To add to the complexity, it was revealed that Jose had a past lover named Rosario, with whom he had a daughter named Janet. Rosario kept the truth hidden for years but eventually revealed it to Jose when she met him after all this time. Despite the challenges, they both agreed to have a relationship with Janet. However, this incident did not help in rekindling Jose and Ana’s relationship, and they eventually decided that divorce was the best option.
Who won the election?
The infamous Acuna brothers and their friend Castro were taken into police custody after their robbery went wrong. They were arrested, and as a result, they were expelled from school. Eva couldn’t let that happen, so she decided to form a student council and run for student election. She believed that teachers and students needed to have a healthy dialogue and that teachers couldn’t just impose decisions on them. It was much needed. The problem was that their all-time enemy, Quinonez, was standing against Eva in the election as he tried to prevent Castro and the Acuna brothers from studying at the school in the future. We still don’t know who will win the election, but no matter the result, we know that Eva is never going to lose a battle. She will make sure the three are allowed to study at the school because, after all, everyone deserves a second chance. Unfortunately, Quinonez won the election by playing dirty and exploiting the situation. He tore Eva apart by delving into her personal life and accusing her of running the election for personal gain to get her friend back into school. He also exposed Luisa’s private decision to terminate her pregnancy at his uncle’s clinic. Quinonez portrayed himself as a victim by claiming Pabón and their friends assaulted him and broke his neck so that Eva couldn’t participate in the election anymore. Through this manipulation and sympathy-seeking, he managed to win the election and Eva lost.
The ending of Eva Lasting concluded with a beautiful scene: Camillo and Luisa became parents to a beautiful daughter. Despite becoming a father, Camillo hasn’t lost hope for his relationship with Eva. On the contrary, this new fatherhood has made him brave enough to accept whatever the future holds. You see, this situation was initially seen as a curse, but instead, it turned out to be the biggest blessing of all. He has become more mature, grown-up, and independent, simultaneously studying and having a job. Perhaps he will have a future with Eva after all, or maybe he won’t. Whatever the outcome, it’s clear that Camillo is not a child anymore. He is willing to take on the challenge of whatever life throws at him. As for his parents, we don’t know what will happen to them. Maybe they will fight to be together because those two still love each other. And what will happen to the Acunas brother and Castro? Will they be allowed back in school now that Eva lost? We might just find all the answers in the upcoming season of Eva Lasting.
