‘Deceitful Love’ Cast And Character Guide

Deceitful Love, the brand-new Netflix Italy original, is all about two people with different backgrounds coming together. The woman is a rich heiress, and the man is a young guy who is back in Italy after having left behind a shady past. As they get into an explosive relationship, many people object to it and start looking for ways to separate the two. These characters, along with the leads, make up the cast of the miniseries, which is set in the gorgeous Amalfi Coast.

Gabriella

Monica Guerritore, the veteran Italian actress, is Gabriella in Deceitful Love. She is a rich hotelier based in Amalfi Coast. She runs the hotel; which is partly her home, a property Gabriella inherited from her father. Gabriella is in her sixties and is a mother of three children, Stefano, Giulia, and Nico, and has been divorced for many years. Her husband left her for her best friend, and she raised her children as a single mother. Gabriella, after many years of remaining single, runs into Elia, a man a lot younger than she is. The attraction is unquestionable, as they cannot keep their hands off each other. 

Gabriella and Elia want to be with each other, but her sons believe the new man in her life could be a conman who preys on rich women like her. Gabriella is not willing to believe her sons, as she feels she is capable enough to make the right decisions for herself. However, she has her own share of trust issues. Gabriella lets her son’s concerns creep into her mind, which jeopardizes her relationship with Elia as she spends most of her time overthinking, which leads to confrontation. Their fights somehow bring them back together. Gabriella wants to be happy, but the road to her happiness is paved with unpleasant secrets that eventually come out. 

Elia

Giacomo Gianniotti, as Elia in Deceitful Love, is the young man in Gabriella’s life. He runs into her when she’s out walking her pet. Their meet-cute is strange, but it forms a strong connection between the two, as they cannot keep their hands off each other. Elia is crystal clear about his past to Gabriella, yet he is defensive when his past is thrown at him by his new lover. Elia goes out of his way to make Gabriella feel good and make her realize she doesn’t need to restrict herself just because she is in her sixties. Elia, however, does come across as a creepy stranger when he does not hesitate to make a move towards Gabriella’s youngest son, Nico. Elia is looking for money, which is established in the beginning, but it will be interesting to find out if his gold digger persona will change when he falls in love with Gabriella. 

Stefano

Emanuel Caserio is Stefano in Deceitful Love, the oldest son of Gabrieilla with her first husband Mario. Stefano is married and has a daughter. He hides his true self beneath the facade as he is secretly bisexual and has a relationship with a police officer. Stefano is not in favor of his mother’s new relationship with a much younger man named Elia. He goes out of his way with the help of his lover to dig for information about Elia that would drive his mother to leave him. 

Stefano is obsessed with getting rid of Elia, which makes him forget his responsibility towards his wife and daughter as he begins to spend more time with his new lover. Stefano also claims to have memories of his mother in a depressive state when his sister was born. This makes him conclude his mother is incapable of making decisions about her love life. As an older son, he believes he has a responsibility towards his mother, which is why he goes out of his way to file a lawsuit against Elia to prove he is a gold digger. 

Nico

Francesco Del Gaudio is Nico, Gabriella’s youngest son in the show. Nico is the only son who lives with his mother in the hotel and is in proximity to the events around her. Nico is the first person to know his mother has a boyfriend, and just like Stefano, he is not okay with his mother parading her new lover around. Unbeknownst to anyone, Nico and Elia shared a kiss long before he knew he was his mother’s new lover. Nico is not comfortable with Elia around, yet there is a tension between them that peaks when they kiss again. 

Nico realized he could not stay in the same house as Elia and Gabriella, and chose to move in with his father. He felt Elia did not have good intentions, but Gabriella chose to go ahead with her feelings for her lover rather than hearing her children out. Nico is a brat himself, who flaunts his money. Just like his older brother, he is also jealous that his mother will be conned into leaving her wealth to Elia and leave her children with nothing.

Giulia

Dharma Mangia Woods is Giulia, Gabriella’s daughter from her first marriage. Unlike Stefano and Nico, Giulia is supportive of her mother’s relationship with Elia. She states that her mother is adult enough to know what is right for her, and she has lived her life independently this long. This is the reason she has the right to live with any man of her choice. Giulia knew her mother had not had a serious relationship in years, which made her choose to support Gabriella, and she was not worried about the wealth her mother had made so far. 

Giulia is an independent woman who works as a model and a fashion influencer. She refuses to get manipulated into Stefano and Nico’s theories about Elia and wants to build her life on her own. 

Marina

Denise Capezza is Marina, the other woman Elia was in love with in Deceitful Love. Marina becomes a part of the story in the second half as she walks in claiming to be a friend to Nico and Gabriella. Marina also becomes a guest at Gabriella’s renovated hotel, choosing not to reveal her relationship with Elia. Elia had left a pregnant Marina while absconding from Spain, and she is back asking for money. Marina, just like Elia, is a crook and is hoping to live off the money he would receive from Gabriella. She is diabolical and toxic, for she is willing to go to any extent to get Elia so that she can fulfill the dream of having a family with him. Marina might become the reason why Elia and Gabriella could break up.
