Dr. Moa

Borja Luna as Dr. Moa, one of the best doctors in the government hospital, is fed up with the situation at his workplace. The hospital is understaffed, and the existing medicos must work overtime without any hike in the salary or rest. Amidst all the concerns of the hospital, he is the doctor everyone looks up to, including many residents who have joined the establishment as newbies. Dr. Moa is an oncologist and is the first person who hints at Patricia possibly having breast cancer. His hunch turns out to be true and he begins his treatment of her without causing any noise about it. Since he is the best oncologist working for a government hospital, he takes pride in the fact that he is the only one who could help her get better. There is tension between him and Patricia, but he chose to treat her like a patient rather than a rival who has different political leanings. As the story progresses, Dr. Moa, along with many other colleagues, are in for a shock when one of the residents commits suicide.

Dr. Moa feels all of this could have been avoided if the hospital had had more doctors and time for the others to take rest after long hours of work. This forces him to go on strike and face his patient Patricia head-on, as she is not just the President of the Valencian community; she also happens to have a right wing view in regards to public healthcare infrastructure in the city.

Patricia Segura

Najwa Nimri, as the President of the Valencian Community Patricia is the leader who has launched a crusade against the government hospital, as she is of right-wing ideology. She is championing the privatization of the hospitals, which rubs the doctors at Joaquim Solor hospital in the same city the wrong way.

Patricia’s cancer detection only makes the matter worse, as she is convinced to take treatment from Dr. Moa, a countrywide renowned oncologist working for the Solor Hospital. She is a steadfast political leader who believes in her ideology even though she came from a background of left leaning family members. Patricia, despite her sickness, refuses to budge and stands firm on her plans to go ahead with the privatization. Patricia and Dr. Moa differ on many issues and have concerns regarding healthcare; yet somehow they find themselves attracted to each other. She is passionate about her career and is not keen on stepping down at the behest of her spreading cancer. As the series progresses, Patricia goes through body image issues and worries about how things would be during the chemotherapy. She questions her mortality, which makes her want to intensify the fight to win the election and work towards her goals.

Dr. Jesica

Jesica is the older sister to the new resident Rodrigo. She is a strict sibling who is not making the work easy for him in the hospital. She expects him to work hard and tirelessly to become a good doctor over time. Dr. Jesica is having an affair with another resident, Biel. Biel is a young guy who could be falling in love with her, while for Jesica, this is just a fling. She is in a serious relationship with the hospital director, Dr. Lluis. Dr. Jesica also faces the crunch all the medicos are facing at the Solor Hospital, which is a result of the shortage of staff and long working hours.

Dr. Jesica keeps up with the demand and is not as angry as Dr. Moa is. She faces the biggest tragedy of her life when someone close to her kills himself, which changes her life forever. She tries to trudge through the tragedy, but it takes time for her to come to terms with losing the person she loved.

Dr. Pilar

Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, as Dr. Pilar, is a far more experienced physician in the Joaquim Solor Hospital and is the head of the surgery section. Dr. Pilar is also a mother who experiences a rude shock as her son Oscar is admitted to the same hospital for a drug overdose. She is hell bent on finding out who made him consume the narcotics. She has a feeling the person admitted Oscar could be the culprit. Unbeknownst to her, one of the residents is a regular consumer of narcotics and is the one who brought Oscar to the hospital.

As Oscar recovers, she has to face the possibility that her son could have contracted HIV because of multiple unprotected encounters with men. All Dr. Pilar must do is be there for her son in case some bad news comes through. She is also the only doctor who stands up to Dr. Moa when he decides to announce a complete strike. She is serious about the oath she took while studying medicine and wants to help the patients.

Dr. Leo

Abril Zamora, as Dr. Leo, is also someone who has a strong interest in women’s rights. As a sexual assault victim is brought to her for an examination, she helps the young girl by giving a false report that will guarantee the arrest of the culprit. The culprit turns out to be her son Hugo, and soon, Dr. Leo is in a dilemma about the matter at hand. She is a righteous person, but right now she is in a soup, as coming out with the confession about falsifying a report would put her career in jeopardy but will save the life of her son. Finally coming to terms with the possibility of Dr. Leo facing jail time, Hugo confesses to committing rape on the young girl. This further enraged her, as she is ashamed of the son she raised and the extent to which she was previously willing to go to help her son. Dr. Leo will have to take a tough stance, and this will decide her future.

Biel

Manu Ríos, as Biel, the new resident of Joaquim Solor Hospital, is assigned to work with Dr. Moa. He is a good kid who is trying to be another version of Dr. Moa. Biel, however, is having an affair with Dr. Jesica and slowly starts falling in love with her. Biel learns Dr. Jesica has no plans to be romantically involved with him as she is in a relationship with Dr. Lluis. Biel cannot help but be himself, as he is the only emotional support to Jesica as she faces a personal tragedy. Both begin an on and off affair, which he begins to enjoy.

Biel, who initially joins his mentor’s strike, refuses to be a part of it as Moa is willing to walk away from an active surgery. Biel chooses to stay back to finish the surgery. Biel’s goals change swiftly after watching Moa walk out of a surgery, which makes him a dedicated person working towards treating patients the right way.

Enrique

Xoán Fórneas, as Enrique, is also doing his residency with Joaquim Solor Hospital. His introduction to the show is made through him admitting Oscar to the hospital after the latter had an overdose. Enrique is gay, and he is known to have encounters with men. This gave him a health scare. At the same time, Enrique feels bad for putting Oscar in a bad situation and begins to hang around the boy. They both slowly fall in love, but Enrique initially pushes him away as he has a fear of commitment. Enrique slowly opens with the idea of being in love with another man; he confesses his love for Oscar. Sadly, matters do not turn out the way he had planned.
