‘Bel-Air’ Season 3 Episode 3 Recap And Ending Explained: Did Vivian Learn About Philip’s Infidelity?

Episode two of season three of Bel-Air ended with Carlton and Amira getting back together. Will and Carlton were able to come up with “Blackccess,” a unique merchandise, and pitch it to Quentin Harrison, who was impressed with their idea. Jazz and Hillary kissed each other after a fight, which means she cheated on her fiancé.

Spoilers Ahead

What was Carlton and Will’s plan to sell the merchandise?

Carlton and Will were excited about Blackccess, and they wanted an increase in the sales of their merchandise, which would help them put in motion other projects planned for their business. Their initial plan was to help Jazz raise money to save his record store from being shut down. Jazz was not getting much help; anything coming his way would be a good opportunity for him. Jazz spoke about a car show where he planned to sell his vintage vehicle, hoping that would help him gather enough money to save his store. Carlton and Will however decide to come to the event to hype up their merchandise in the hope the people attending the event would place some orders.

Did Ashley know of Hillary and Jazz’s kiss?

Hillary was having lunch with her mother and Ashley when her sister revealed she had witnessed the kiss between Hillary and Jazz. Ashley was of the belief Hilary and Jazz were made for each other. This was the reason the youngest sibling did not bother to be friends with LaMarcus. Ashley had made her stance about her sister’s fiancé clear, because she sensed there were some unfinished feelings between her sister and Jazz. Ashley had always had a soft corner for Jazz, because he’d introduced her to some good music. Ashley asked her sister to come clean about the kiss to LaMarcus, or she would have to reveal the truth to her soon-to-be brother-in-law. Even though Hilary claimed the kiss was a mistake, she found it hard to convey it to her boyfriend.

What happened at the car show?

At the car show, Will’s ex-girlfriend showed up to help him and Carlton increase the sale of Blackccess t-shirts. Lisa and Will had begun to date, and she was uncomfortable with Jackie hanging around him trying to be friendly. Lisa had never felt jealous, and since Will was okay with his ex hanging around, she initially chose to remain silent and not raise a big fuss. Jackie was bragging about having sold many T-shirts only through pre-booking, which made Lisa all the more uncomfortable. Carlton had conveyed the situation of him hanging out with Jackie might go out of control, but Will did not take his advice seriously. The marketing of Blackccess through t-shirts was becoming a big hit, and since they were putting themselves out there on social media, it soon became all the rage.

Why was Geoffrey suggesting getting new clients?

Geoffrey came forward with a real estate company that was looking for legal representation in Bel-Air. He wanted Philip to bring in new clients as well and not depend on clients brought in by Erica’s firm. Geoffrey did not want Philip to be dependent on Erica or her other partners in the firm for the smooth functioning of their new law company. He only wanted good things for his boss, and he sensed relying on an outside company for work was not a sustainable strategy.

Was there an artist getting in touch with Vivian?

While Vivian was having lunch with her daughters, she came across an Instagram account that was flooding her profile with many likes. Hillary blocked the account for her without finding out who it could be. The college campus the next day was buzzing with a painting on one of the walls in the campus, and Vivian was keen to know who it could buy. She soon found out the person whose account Hillary had blocked was the artist who made the mural, and she was willing to meet this person.

Why did Carlton and Will get into the streetcar race?

Jazz was upset about the state of his record store. His conversation with Will indicated that wanted more money to save his business. Jazz was close to losing everything, including his vintage car. Will was moved by Jazz’s words as he understood the car and the store were part of his friend’s legacy. Will decided he wouldn’t let Jazz sell his car.

Geoffrey’s son showed up at the car show and talked about betting in the car race afterwards. Initially, Carlton and Will did not pay much heed to the race as that was not on their agenda. The car race, however, involved Jazz and his nemesis. The nemesis bet to take Jazz’s car if he won. Jazz could keep his vintage car if he wins the race.  To save Jazz from losing his car, Will decides to take part in the car race, and Carlton joins him to navigate the race. Will and Carlton were underdogs at this point, but they did end up winning the race.

Why was Lisa angry?

After the race was won, Jackie showed up, asking Carlton, Amira, Will, and Lisa to join her at a restaurant for an afterparty. An angry Lisa lashed out at Jackie, asking her to stop showering attention on Will. Jackie was angry, but she was asked to leave, while Will went to comfort Lisa, who was his priority. Since they had not come out in public about their relationship, Lisa was afraid he would leave her for Jackie. Since it was obvious Jackie wanted him, she was willing to step away, not wanting to become the miserable third wheel.

Lisa was honest about her feelings and, to some extent, might have been right about how she felt about Jackie’s actions. Lisa had every right to be angry, as she was putting herself out there emotionally for Will, and she could not watch him being taken away by an emotionally stunted woman like Jackie. She wanted him to give himself fully to her, or she would rather leave him to end the relationship.

Was Frederick bad news?

Post-race, Frederick, Geoffrey’s British son, was seen getting into a fight with a gang because he had taken money from them. While Geoffrey claimed he did not have any money on him from them,  Will and Carlton came to his rescue to de-escalate the matter. The argument dialed down the moment police showed up, and the three young boys escaped before the police could catch them. Frederick eventually revealed he’d cheated the gang and taken their money.

Carlton and Will were in shock and had no idea how to handle the matter. Geoffrey saved all three of them, but Carlton and Will could not muster up the strength to let the house manager know about the real face of his son. Frederick had possibly been a thug during his days in London. On arriving in Bel-Air and learning his father was a powerful person, he may have chosen to use it to his benefit without letting Geoffrey know about it.

Will and Carlton again confronted Frederick when he was trying to steal some documents from Uncle Philip’s office. Frederick, however, was not scared of either one of them and used the car race to get out of trouble. Young Frederick was aware Carltin and Will wouldn’t want their family or employers at the club to know they got involved in a dangerous sport without the permission of their elders. Will and Carlton were worried about their reputation and chose to stay tight-lipped about it.

Did Vivian Learn About Philip’s Infidelity?

It was not very difficult for Vivian to spot the odd behavior, and when she did, she was quick to point it out to Erica. A cornered Erica revealed the news of the kiss between her and Philip, which devastated her. Vivian confronted her husband, who went into a defensive mode, which led to a major fight between them. Philip claimed the marriage was stressful and began to blame many outside factors, including Carlton’s rehab stint. This indicated that Philip was not a good person either, as he chose to not take full responsibility for the mistake he made. Carlton was the person who heard them, which indicates that this was not the first time his parents had had a vicious fight before. Carlton may be feeling guilty after hearing his father mention him. The fight could be a subject of discussion in the next episode as well.

Was Hillary planning to reveal the truth to LaMarcus?

Hillary had shared with her best friend about the kiss she had had with Jazz. Her best friend believed she should not let LaMarcus know about this, as it might end their engagement, and he might break up with her as well. Her best friend was right to some extent, because if the kiss meant nothing, she should keep the secret to herself till the end. Hillary was not sure, because Ashley was being insensitive about the situation, which was making her consider coming out clean to LaMarcus. Hillary was a confused woman, as it was obvious she did not know what she wanted from her life so far. The engagement also came at a time she had not fully moved on from her breakup with Jazz.

Hillary, however, decided to come clean to Lemarcus about the kiss she had with Jazz on the day of the match. She could have chosen a worse time to inform him about her mistake but he was soon dragged into the match. Hillary had hoped to share the news after the match, regardless of what the result of the match would be.

Bel-Air episode 3 ended with LaMarcus colliding into a fellow player during the match and eventually fainting. LaMarcus may have experienced a concussion right after the collision, which could be life-threatening. If he was seriously injured, it would be difficult for Hillary to let him know about the incident. Hillary will be in a dilemma soon after this. The fate of the engagement would be in jeopardy.
