Spoilers Ahead

Akhil Chada

Vicky Kaushal, as Akhil Chada, is a flamboyant and handsome restaurant owner who falls in love with a chef, Saloni Bagga. Unlike her, he is happy with the life he has been leading, running a restaurant started by his father. He comes across as an over-the-top man who wants to be in a relationship with the woman; he is genuine and eventually wants to marry her as well. Saloni could not resist his charms and the promise he made of supporting her dream, and they got married in no time. Akhil does come across as someone who does not understand boundaries at the workplace, especially when it comes to his wife and the work she is invested in. Akhil is also attached to his mother, which is a bone of contention for Saloni, but the matter is resolved soon.

Pretty early in the marriage, Saloni put her foot down regarding her dream, which he overlooked. This caused strain and eventually a divorce, which Akhil did not see coming. It is his rendezvous with his now-ex-wife, Saloni, that causes more complications. He is more than happy to see her pregnant, but there are obstacles he will have to cross to connect with Saloni and the babies she is carrying.

Saloni Bagga

Tripti Dimri as Saloni Bagga, is a career-driven, passionate chef who has dreamed of receiving the coveted ‘Meraki Star Chef’ for the longest time. Even though she is smitten by Akhil Chada, another restauranter, she refuses to budge away from her goals. As Saloni’s destiny would have it, she falls hard for Akhil, and they soon get married as he promises to support her dreams. Saloni is a driven woman who hopes that her progressive husband will stick to the promise he made, but things go south for her soon. On learning Akhil may not be serious about helping her achieve her dreams and might be pushing her to have children, she disconnected very quickly, which led to their first major argument. Saloni’s dreams seem to be shattering, and the only way to get herself out of the mess is to get a divorce.

A heartbroken Saloni has to do the inevitable and move away to restart her life. Her meeting with Gurbir Pannu at her new place of work is completely unexpected, which causes further complications. Her pregnancy is shocking news, and to further complicate things, she will have to deal with two men as they are the fathers of her twins.

Gurbir Pannu

Ammy Virk, as Gurbir Pannu, is the owner of the Hotel Savoy in Mussoorie, where Saloni joins as the head chef. Gurbir and she planned to earn the ‘Meraki Star Chef’ and began to build a restaurant that could become one of the best in the country. Their closeness turns into love, which Saloni did not expect. Gurbir Pannu is calmer, and unlike Akhil, he understands the value of hard work. Since he and Saloni are in the same field of work, he knows how to cope with the emergencies that come their way instead of overwhelming her with attention. Gurbir is sadly dealing with his own baggage. Gurbir and his Gujarati girlfriend broke up because of the difference in meal preferences between her and his family.

The heartbreak made Gurbir turn into a vegetarian in memory of their relationship. It also made him go slow with Saloni, but she has other plans. Their one night of rendezvous led to her pregnancy, and just like Akhil, he is excited for it. Unlike Akhil, Gurbir is calm and composed and has a mature attitude towards the entire situation, as he is told he is the father of one of the twins Saloni is carrying.

Ma Corona

Neha Dhupia, as Ma Corona, the bohemian spiritual therapist, is the only source of support that Saloni has had since her childhood. Saloni’s dream of being independent has been fueled by her aunt Ma Corona, who helped her find balance in life. Neha Dhupia, in her cameo appearance, guides her niece Saloni to make a better and more profound decision since pregnancy is not a piece of cake, and what would come after her nine months of carrying two infants would also not be easy.

Ma Corona seems like an odd name for an aunt, but she ends up being there for Saloni amidst all the bickering Akhil and Gurbir get into to get the attention of the mother of their respective children.

Vishni Chada

Sheeba Chaddha, as Akhil’s mother, Vishni Chada, is the matriarch of the family and is very attached to her son. Vishni and Akhil seem to be talking to each other constantly throughout his honeymoon with Saloni. This initially bothered Saloni, but soon she learned that his mother was alone during his father’s death, and ever since, he has made sure to keep her posted about his movements.

Vishni Chada, unlike other mother-in-laws, initially comes across as an understanding woman who never interfered in the way Saloni functioned in her life. There is an unspoken understanding, and Saloni is glad to have a female figure who rallies behind her. It was Akhil’s expectation of Saloni that led to their marriage falling apart, but Vishni tried till the end to somehow salvage the marriage. Vishni also had concerns after learning of Saloni’s pregnancy, and she did come across as a tad bit selfish. Her only concern is the kid and not the mother, her health, or her choice of how she wants to raise her twins. Vishni has her own flaws, but she only wants the best for her son.
