‘A Girl And An Astronaut’ Episode 4: Recap And Ending, Explained: What Was Nadia’s Grandfather’s Experiment?

Before we move on in the story of “A Girl And An Astronaut,” we must take a step back and evaluate the lovely fashion and, specifically, Marta’s makeup in this show! Olivia’s philtrum piercing in 2052 is also really cool, although we can’t understand how that helps with daily functioning. In episode 3, we saw that Marta was getting closer to Bogdan even though she was in a steady relationship with Niko. Marta believes she can change Niko the playboy into a one-woman man, but Karolina doesn’t quite agree just yet. Niko had promised Marta that he would return, and he finally has. So will he wake up for his love? Let’s find out in episode 4 of “A Girl and an Astronaut.”

What Happens In Episode 4 Of ‘A Girl And An Astronaut’?

Marta vividly remembers one day in the past when Niko shared a vulnerable moment with her. Niko even cried while telling her a story from his past. Niko is clearly all in for Marta, but will he mess this up? Bogdan and Marta talk. She tells him that the Russians want to keep Niko there, but she wants to bring him back. When he asks her if she’s staying there, the phone gets disconnected. Olivia says bye to Bogdan on her way to work, but he has a sudden heartbeat abnormality. In the flashback, Marta plays her new tune for Niko but is interrupted by a dozen messages from Bogdan. He wants to see her really badly and “cares about her.” Marta is intrigued, and to the disappointment of Niko, she rushes to go see him. Bogdan tells Marta that being with Niko is a mistake. That he cares much more for her and would even stay back from the Russian mission to be with her. Marta is tempted, but before their kiss can turn more passionate, she leaves him. In the future, Olivia asks her father if he wants to leave her alone. Bogdan requests that she not tell Marta that he’s been hospitalized. Elsewhere, Nadia is visited by uninvited guests. The FSB, or Russian federal agency, is at her private research and development center. Basically, they’re here to find out about Niko. Sergey Pudovkin, Nadia’s boss (now we know clearly), is planning on selling all the research to the federal unit.

He only cares about the monetary benefits of the interaction, whereas Nadia needs time with Niko to find out everything about her grandfather’s experiment. Marta decides to meet Niko again, but this time without the helmet and the gloves from the suit. She asks for the “first clip” to be played and touches his face while it projects across the room.

In the flashback, a huge costume party is happening at Niko’s. Marta wears a blue wig and alien antlers on her head. Niko is terribly drunk and, as expected, makes the drunken mistake of “hanging out” with another girl at the party. Marta, already disappointed by the choice of music at the scene, sees him there and decides to leave immediately. As she gets in the car, Niko runs after her and apologizes. She doesn’t look back and begins to cry. Bogdan cares for his mother at home and tears up, looking at the awful condition she’s in. He has a face-off with his father. He’s terribly angry because his father is unbothered by his threats and bashes his car into Wiktor’s before leaving. At the club, Bogdan and Marta see each other’s lonely selves and feel their attraction deepen. Finally, since they can’t keep their hands off each other and Marta thinks Niko is a cheater, they end up sharing a passionate night together. Niko tells Karolina that it is different this time, and he has true feelings for Marta. They discuss their mother (the reasons why Niko thinks all women will leave, how cliche), and Karolina tells him that not all women are like her. Niko notices the bruise on her neck, but before he can ask her about it, Marta arrives. Karolina tells her it’s for real with Niko and leaves. Marta and Niko apologize to each other. Niko tells her he wants to be with her forever. At camp, Niko asks Bogdan why he’s so chirpy, but Bogdan doesn’t answer. It’s a few days before the chosen ones head off to Russia, and the boys sing a song together to cheer themselves up and get excited. In 2052, Nadia and the team think there’s no impact from Marta being in close contact with Niko. Way back when Niko was about to leave for Russia, he came to see Marta one last time before leaving. For a change, Marta takes Niko for a ride to the base. Bogdan and Niko both leave together with their team for Russia.

‘A Girl And An Astronaut’ Episode 4: Ending Explained – What Is The Experiment That Niko Was Chosen For?

In 2022, President Rewicz met with Pudovkin, who introduced her to the “father” of the project, Andrey Davidov (Nadia’s grandfather). Andrey and Pudovkin explain their plan: the person that will get sent in the capsule will be at a reduced temperature at first, then he will be in sub-hibernation; his vitals will be slowed down, which will allow the “stem cells” to gain completely new traits. Rewicz is not entirely convinced by the idea and wonders why they want to do this in space. Pudovkin says it would be a breakthrough and extremely profitable for something like going to Mars. Of course, Poland would get a fair share of the profits.

In the future, Niko is hit with memories of the past and Marta’s face in his mind waking up out of his long slumber finally! Before Marta can see that, though, JJ tells her that Bogdan misses her, so she has to go back to Poland. Nadia rushes to the sterile room where Niko is because motion is detected there to see that he’s standing! I’m not sure how this is possible, but we will allow it for dramatic effect. Niko has finally woken up, proving that Nadia’s plan was, in fact, successful. Excited to see what’s next in episode 5.
